Howdy,

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Richard Graves, I know I was not...

I had heard about him, but with a bit of research I am learning volumes...

It seems like he was the guy that inspired both Mors and Ray....

Coined the term "Bushcraft"...

I am still reading and learning, but here is a website which you might find interesting....

And remember, Google can be your friend.

Marion,

I don't know if you know about it or not but there is another site called bushcraftUSA that you might be interested in. I have noticed a couple of your posts about skill based books etc. and I thought you might like the other site because it has a free downloads section that you can read lots of good books about bushcraft related skills.

I certainly know about Richard Graves, since I have his book Bushcraft (paperback edition — it's starting to fall apart now), which I bought sometime in the '60's, I believe. Very useful information.

Thanks for the link. If you find anything else cool, be sure to post.

My 1972 edition is the first bushcraft book that I ever bought. Great reading and cool illustrations.

G'day Marion

The term "Bushcraft" has been in use here in Australia since the 1800's.

I don't think we will ever know who was the first to use the term.

Kind regards
Mick

Mick - Good historical information.

Are there an Australian Discussion Boards about these subjects?

To be honest I don't know of any.

That's not to say there aren't any, just that I'm not aware of them.

Kind regards
Mick

There is/was one called Laventrix

I haven't been there in quite awhile so I don't know if it's current.

Grave's book was one of the first really good books on the subject - had mine since the '70's.

hey guys. I'm sure the book is available to download if you do a search. Doc Lav is going strong. Heaps of aussie knife makers there too.
