Richard Rogers is probably best known for his magnificent handmade slip joint knives, but I just picked up a really nice fixed blade made by him. The knife was originally made for our own Danbo. The CPM3V blade is 6 1/8” with a nice hand-rubbed finish, and was heat treated by Paul Bos. The blade is flat ground and sharp. Excellent grinds. The handle is made from green micarta and measures about 5”. The contours of the handle make for a comfortable and secure grip. The construction appears to be mortised tang. Overall a very nice camp knife that is elegant and seems built for serious use.

Don’t count on my field testing report anytime soon because I am enjoying just looking at and handling this one for the moment.

Below are a couple of pictures with my Mnandi thrown in to get an idea of the size of this knife.

WOW... I've never seen a fixed blade from Richard... leta alone a big one.

His work is fantastic and absolutely clean, this piece looks to be no exception.

Very very nice knife :)

I had a one time two hunters from Richard via Dan every bit as clean as his multi/slips I wish i had held on to that burgundy micarta utlity :( enjoy and and thanx for posting that rarebird

I have a few of Richard's knives :D.
It does not matter what he decides to make, you can always count on clean work (even in places no one is looking) and a finish second to none.

To top it off, he and his wife Sally are two of the nicest folks you would want to meet.

Congrats on a great purchase.

Awesome knife, Jeff. I am really digging the blade shape on this knife. I have to say though, I can completely understand your desire to just sit back and admire that one for awhile, it's a beauty for sure.

Jeff, You've got great taste in knives. I love nice fixed blades and this one is awesome.

By the way I passed the Wilson on to a friend who drew his Moose tag in Wyoming, hopefully it will get a good test.

Both the Rogers and the snakewood Mnandi look great. Thanks for posting the nice pictures.Win you should get these 2 knives also, for your friend in Wyoming. That Mnandi can be used for caping and the Rogers can split the duty with the Wilson :) .I think your friend will really appreciate it :) :) .

That's a real beauty. The blade shape looks great for a field knife, and the handle looks really comfortable. I'm with you though, I'd admire it a while longer, then go out and really use it!

Just to get a hack in here, if I may. Raj, you had a couple of chances to buy that knife in Tulsa! :p :p :D

I'm surprised more people are'nt commenting on the sheathwork. Richard hammered that pattern into the leather. :)

By the way, the handle is not mortis tang. It is simply a hidden tang inside one solid chunk "O" green canvas micarta. You really need to use that knife. I used it a little myself. If I remember correctly, a gang of maurading carboard boxes attacked me and I had to defend myself. :D

Hi Dan,if I had known that this knife had saved you from the marauding cardboard,I would have bought it in a flash :D :D .Sometimes I think about all the fine knives that I could have bought from you.Maybe next time in Tulsa...?.
Geode does have a nice knife and hopefully he will put it to better use than keeping marauding cardboard at bay.

oh I like that. Looks smootha s butter...... :D
