Well, I received a phone call from Richard Rogers the other day and got my name on his list for a half whittler. he told me that he may bring one to the Blade Show West......that one's mine.....hopefully!

I met Tom, the manager of Advanced Cutlery in Arcadia, CA the other days, and he showed me a few very interesting things. The first was a fixed-blade drop-point hunter with desert ironwood handle and a perpect satin finish....by Richard Rogers. It was gorgeous. Tom told me that the sheath, a simple leather pouch, was made my Richard's wife.

The other two items really surprised me. They were two small "tactical" fixed blades, left hand chisel ground geometric American tantos.....by Richard Rogers and they came in kydex sheaths, horizontal draw! Tom said they were of O1 steel with micarta handles.

Very interesting!

By the way, I'm injoying the Ruple stockman very much.....a new daily carry knife!

Richard Rogers is a great guy & does awesome work!!!!!!!!!!!! His knives are some of nicest work I've ever seen by anyone. His wife is a sweet heart, they're great. He'll go a long way. Congrats on getting one of his knives.

I just received Richard's very first half whittler about three weeks ago. It is fantastic. I just took some pictures today, and will try to have them scanned by the weekend. This is my second knife from him. The other is a single blade toothpick of his own design.

Your right, Richard and his wife are fantastic people. While talking with Richard a while back about my knife, I mentioned that my wife is pregnant with our first child. He took the time to attach a note with the knife wishing us and our still unborn girl well. Thanks to Richard.

Edited by Gus because Dan is a friend of mine and he slipped up and made a sales pitch here and if I let him do it I have to let everyone do it and the forum ends up looking more like a flea market.

He can b**** slap me for it in a month or so

, but we will still be walking around the Blade Show together.

Hey Rog,

You forgot to tell everyone how sharp the Ruble knife is. Needless to say, he found out the hard way.

Richard and Sally (his wife) otherwise now known as knife-wife are two of the finest.
Knives aside, I sure have enjoyed getting to know these two folks a little.

Nifrand - ask me if I am jealous

(YES)
guess I have to wait until Blade for mine.
A question since I sent him some antiques to study. Is it a little bit serpentine (like an old Ulster) or straight?

I really am glad to see the slip joint collectors coming out of the "closet" more and more. It is good thing to know that you are not alone

Kalisig,

Good to hear from you. Hope your "date" went well. Yes, The Ruple is sharp. I used it to woodcarve the first day I got it and I cut my thumb. I didn't even notice the cut until I noticed the wood "discoloring." After a few days of using the knife, I'm surprised at how scratch-resistant the hand-rubbed finish it. My usual carving knife is a SAK and it looks a hundred years old because of the scrathes.

Gus:It is a straight side.Beautiful.
Just got a call from Joel.Has a couple of Doctors he is bringing to Solvang. One is mine. But I might have to get the pearl also.
Wonder where my money goes.
