I was at a gunshow in Dallas this weekend and saw some really great knives by a custom maker named Richard Self out of Nacogdoches, Tx. I am trying to learn more about custom knives and wanted to know if anybody had any experience/knowledge with these knives. They appeared really well made and he had some Damascus folders that were smooth as silk. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Richard Self is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and also one of the best knifemakers you will find. Richard ALWAYS uses the nicest pearls, ivorys, woods, etc... for his knives. Materials so nice, it makes me wonder where in the hell he gets the stuff! :)

All grinds, fit and finish are top notch. Prices are not cheap, but quality like this never is.

If you guys will go to my web site, www.lx.net/dushane & go to the link page, there is a link to his page, I've known Richard for several years now & he is a great guy & a great maker. Talk to yall later, Dwayne Dushane

This is indeed one sweet SJ for $375 IMO and what a great whittler it would make.

Damn, that Dushane folder is sweeeeet! I would love to see that knife with one clip blade and one warncliffe blade. Both blades coming from different ends with separate springs.

Thanks guys for the comments on my knives. I've built some before like you were talking about. I make all different styles, just whatever suits me or what a customer might order. Talk to yall later, Dwayne
