Has anybody worked with one of these cutting boards? How much harder than wood are they?
I'm asking because my old teak cutting board is scratched up and I don't have the ability to re-plane it. Currently I'm using something I got from a discount store that I sanded down and oiled, it appears to be some kind of soft wood, and isn't particularly big.... so I'd like something better. And right now wood prices are ridiculous in general.
I didn't go the bamboo route just because the hardness is so uneven (the regular grained sections are fine, but the knots are very hard), and glass and plastic are out of the question.
