Well this weekends Richmond Knife and Gun show has come to an end and I would like to hear if any of you guys picked up anything good??

I went there with a plan of picking a nice Custom fixed blade. After looking at what was offered and thinking it over, I had it narrowed down to about 3 diffrent knives. Then I saw a Small Sebenza for sale and decided to hunt down a Large. After searching high and low I couldn't find one :( So my buying spree went alittle off track. Heres what I ended up with:

-Mossberg 500 12Ga.
-Top style folding stock for Mossberg
-Top Saddle Shotgun Shell holder for above stock
-Anza file Knife
-A set of Whittlin Jack wood carving knives
-Some Ammo
-Ruby Ridge book from Randy Weaver

My wife ended up getting a few T-Shirts, a necklace and things of that nature.

I ended up seeing two very nice pieces I would have picked up if I would have spotted them before I bought the shotgun. One was a UNREAL folder that the Jones Brothers had on the table. I am not sure how I missed it but it was a work of art and smooth as butter and the second was a Very nice Fixed blade that Bigjohn had at his table. By the time I got to either of these pieces and realized what I previously passed up, it was too late. I had already blew 95% of my spending money for that show.

How about you guys?? Anyone else end up picking anything up over the weekend??

I got to the show fairly early Saturday morning. A buddy of mine and I drove up from Lynchburg. It was great to meet one of the Jones brothers, Allan Folts, and the other makers. I went to the show with a small budget and a clear idea of what I was looking for and didn't see that, so I left empty handed. Not to say I wasn't severly tempted. I was quite impressed with the number of production knife sellers on the main (gun show) floor. Their prices seemed closer to earth than those at the Blade show. One seller had Rambo I/II/III repro knives for $25-$35 each.

BG, too bad we didn't bump into each other. Next show we can meet up and I'll buy you a beverage ;).

I brought my wife with me so I couldn't buy very much. I bought a file guard fixture from the Kovals table. There was a ton of knife making stuff I was drooling over.I've bought an anvil and a post vice within the last weeks so I guess I shouldn't complain.
Sorry I missed you at the show. I saw rugger, Alan Folts, otha, Barry and Philip Jones. Kinda cool seeing Randy Weaver. I hope the sellers did well enough to make it worth coming back again and more often.

I picked up some assorted pouches, a rucksack, some Kydex and a Chris Reeve Aviator. I also picked up a couple of Blackhawk sheaths which find to be useless for the newer breeds of thick bladed knives. I met one of the Jones Brothers (the one with the hair) and Mr Britton and talked about two of Britton's new design drop point fighters.

I walked around the show like a zombie since I had not slept for30 hours prior, and spent 7 of those hours driving down from NYC...

I did however, get a glimpse of Extremefishin, but did not say hi since I didn't realize it was him till I got into my car and started on the drive home. For whomever might be interested and can remember, I was the chinesee guy with the glasses and brown A-2 leather jacket.

I am pretty sure I may have seen you. I had on a Brown Wool sweater with leather shoulders in it. My kid had on a Steelers outfit in the brown stroller. I guess I should have worn a BFC name tag:) I would have never guessed I would have picked up a gun instead of a knife, but the price was hard to pass up. The two main production pieces I was after were no where to be found (Lg. Sebenza and CRKT D.O.G.) I did however see the Lake Signature and regret not picking that up. There was a Jason King Fighter that caught my eye as well. But it appeared to have some blemishes on the BB finish and I couldn't get past that. :(

I wish I had the money to buy even half of what I wanted. I also met the Jones brothers, they are a couple of real nice guys. I plan on buying from them again if I can find a job out here. I ended up with:

>Benchmade 46, spearpoint, D2. I'm kind of dissapointed with the edge this one came with, and might send it back to Benchmade later to get it touched up. I'm not going to carry it as a user, so it's no big deal.

>CRKT Kasper Companion. I'm impressed with what I got for $30. Though the sheathes are zytel, and a little noisy, they are servicable. I might get a kydex sheath made for this one when I can.

>Jone Brother's neck knife. They don't even have a name or model number for this one yet:p It's about 6 inches overall, with a 3 inch blade of BG-42. It feels very secure in the hand. The only problem with it are the couple of scratches I put on the blade when I gave it a quick touch up. ACK! Anyways, I'm impressed with the workmanship, and the Jones brothers are a couple of great guys.

I also picked up a new wallet( though I had nothing left to put in it), and a DMT fine/xtrafine diafold. Overall I had a great day. Maybe next time I can catch a couple of forumites.

Speaking of which, what are the chances of having bladeforum patches or badges made up that we could wear to different shows?

Chris

Yeah, I am the one with hair. :D Hey, we have to do something so we don't look exactly alike.;)

All the nice compliments about us are very much appreciated.

It was great to finally meet you guys face to face.

Chris,
Keep your eyes on your mailbox. We are shipping you an attachment for your sheath. We are very sorry but we just plain forgot to give it to you. It was in one of our gear boxes under the table.

As for the scratches you put on your blade. You can send it back to us and we will make it look like new. It won't cost you a single cent.

Barry,

I'll be keeping an eye on the mailbox. As far as the scratches go..eh..they just add character. Thanks for the offer though:D

Chris

Thanks for the kind words.
That was the first time Barry and I have done a show in Richmond and we look forward to going back.

Hey Chris,
Sorry about forgetting that sheath accessory. Sometimes I'd forget my head if it wasn't bolted to my neck ;) .
