Richmond, VA. Anyone going?

I plan on going. Also, according to http://www.showmasters.net/page2.html there is a show at the Fairgrounds Complex on 1/4 - 1/5. This show is usually geared more towards collectors but there are some dealers with new firearms and knives for sale. All in all I prefer the one at the Showplace, though.

I will somehow fit this into my busy January schedule. What is life if you can't stop to smell the roses (AKA look at knives). Perhaps we can all meet somewhere? BTW, are there any pecular Richmond knife carry laws we need to know?

Wonder if there is any chance of C&E doing the same type thing at their Charlotte show? Would certaintly draw me in!:D

Art, I can assure you I'll talk to them about it. I would love to have a show that close to home. Wave at me as I drive by tomorrow, time to play in the woods.

I was at the Charlotte Gun show several weeks ago and their was a strong knife presence. At least 7 or 8 makers another 4 or 5 dealers and two supply dealers. I was suprised. Passed up a nice little primative with a goat hrn handel made by "From the Ashes". Regret it now. I think a knife section would go over great in Charlotte.

Rev. Pete,

I asked that question a while back. Here's the link

I haven't had any problems carrying pocket knives in the city, though I haven't had much contact with the police. I don't see you having much trouble carrying folders with a 4" or less blade.

Chris

Thanks for the link. Maybe I will just wear a sub-four inch belt knife. I hope the facility hosting the show is knife friendly.

I just picked up an Alan Folts Tactical Persian. It is such a magnificant knife I can't wait to see other knives that he made.

I believe that the legal blade length limit is 3" in Richmond, VA but I may be wrong. A quick call to the Richmond PD may help.

I really need to work on my typing skills...

I hope to be there on the 11th! I have a big bushy grey beard and will be wearing a Ford truck ball cap. Say Hi and intoduce yourself

Are we talking concealed or all knives? I'd like to wear my new Busse Active Duty (3.5" fixed blade). I will TRY calling the Richmond PD and hope that they are helpful. I'm bringing a buddy who is new to the knife world. I don't want to start out by having him watch me get arrested :D. I look forward to seeing you guys. I'm uhhh... well... short and hairy :D.

No person shall sell or exchange within the City limits any pistol, dirk, Bowie knife, slung shot, switchblade knife or any weapon of a like kind, or pistol or rifle ammunition, unless and until such person shall first have obtained a permit to be granted by the Chief of Police to sell or exchange such weapon. Such permit shall be exhibited to the person to whom such weapon is sold or exchanged, and on request shall be exhibited for inspection by any police officer of the City.
(Code 1985, § 20-149)
Ok, so what is a dirk, a Bowie knife? I must be confused.

It is also illegal to carry/sell/possess a "clasp knife" greater than 3 1/4" in length. No definition of "clasp knife" given. Are they talking locking folder? Here is the link:
