Has anyone been following the on going saga of self proclaimed "Bigfoot tracker" Rick Dyer? For those of you who don't know (or don't care), Rick Dyer claims to have a dead adult bigfoot body, and a live juvenile bigfoot in captivity.

The story goes like this...
9/06/12 Rick Dyer heads out to the woods in San Antonio, Texas to film a hoax/mockumentary about Bigfoot hunters. Keep in mind that Rick Dyer was involved in a hoax from 2008 in which he and few others claimed to have a Bigfoot body in a deep freezer. This "body" turned out to be an elaborate suit, but the hoaxers made $$$ from this. Anyway, he goes to the woods with a film crew and while in the process of starting to film this movie he spots a real Bigfoot. Shortly there after Rick Dyer hangs ribs from a tree as bait to lure this Bigfoot in. When the Bigfoot comes back to take the bait, Rick Dyer apparently films the Bigfoot. You can see this video on YouTube. It's call the "Bigfoot Tent Video". For about three minutes, you see grainy footage, but its still "better" than most footage. It was at this point when Rick Dyer allegedly shoots and eventually kills this Bigfoot which is now named "Hank". For close to a year now R.Dyer has hyped up the fact he has a dead Bigfoot body in his possession. The release date of the body was suppose to happen on 8/15/13. Just days prior to the release date, R.Dyer claims that the dead Bigfoot actually had a fetus inside, and that he also captured a young Bigfoot that now he has in captivity.

The release date has come and gone, and no body yet...
In the mean time, R.Dyer has released a movie called "Shooting Bigfoot" and is offering memberships to his Team Tracker website, and has a book out.

Don't get me wrong, a discovery of Bigfoot would be pretty neat. But come on....this has the classic FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU. FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME vibe to it.

Yeti (Himalaya), yeren (East Asia/China) sasquatch (North America), basajaun (European/Basque region), yowie (Australian), and even here in SE Asia, I believe these creatures may indeed exist. Too spread-out globally, too much cultural memory and folk tradition to totally dismiss them.

Until an actual "body" is found however. . .

I also find two more creatures intriguing; the South American "mapinguari" is said to be remnants of the giant ground sloth. They were said to have disappeared "only" 10,000 years ago (by geological standards, that was like yesterday).

Then there are the supposed African chimpanzee/gorilla hybrids "bili apes" or "bondo mystery apes". They freaking hunt lions!?!!

In S.E. Asia I think there is the Oranpendak. I believe it's a similar species, but supposedly only about 4feet tall.
I too believe that species like this may exist. The references to Sasquatch in Native American history is extensive.

I agree, until an actual "body" is found however...

True or not, cryptozoology and paranormal stuff really intrigues me.

Yep, Orang pendak (pandak with an "a" means "short/small/dwarfish" in Tagalog/Filipino). Of course "Homo Floresiensis" discovered in Indonesia just a few years ago could also have been remnants or related.

Also the "alma" (Central Asia/Russian steppe) are much more human in size and appearance. Could they be the last of the Neanderthals, like in "Eaters of the Dead" by the late great Michael Crichton?

The case of the captured and re-integrated wild woman "Zana" in Russia.

so the story is he shot one that he named "hank" and then the story changed to it was pregnant and now he has a baby bigfoot.

Seems like he would have picked a different name if it was a female.

I think he's telling tales to make cash.

Bigfoots a myth and so are unicorns, I did find horse manure on a hill side down in southern Ohio that could have been unicorn droppings, I didn't hang around to investigate further tho, I'm gonna go with just a loose horse.

as for Indians believing in them, I've met more than one that believe in skin walkers, don't make them real either.

Just my opinion, not stating fact, just opinion.

That's funny...I am just telling the story. I think that he is blowing smoke up you know where, but I hope he's not.

As for "Hank", there is a "vital" part of the story I forgot to mention. According to R.Dyer, "Hank" is neither male or female, but has both reproductive organs, along with 2 stomachs and 4 nostrils.

Again, I'm just reporting the story.

He has cried wolf to many times let's stake him to the ant pile and take away his YOU TUBE card.

We have very long-running threads on various aspects of the Bigfoot question on the James Randi board. As noted, this guy has made many claims in the past that turned out to be spurious and he consistently refuses to pony up his body or anything else.....
The whole thing has assumed (much like UFOs...) the status of a religion among the true believers and no amount of contrary evidence will convince them.
There is one anthropology-type, Meldrum, who continues to be the lone scientific voice promoting the idea... His colleagues all just sort of shrug their shoulders and whistle...

One of the footprints Meldrum found supposedly has "dermal ridges" (like fingerprints) which he claims could not be faked.
But any Hollywood (or even amateur) makeup artist knows how easy this is....
The Mythbusters made phony dermal ridges sufficient to fool a fingerprint reading device.....

I just read that the body of "Hank" will supposedly be released on 1/1/14.... If I ever meet R. Dyer I will ask him if its a coincidence that the release date of "Hank" happens to fall on the "Year of the Snake" on the Chinese calendar...

Sounds like he might have bagged one of our Riverwalk hags. They're everywhere down here. Very large, very hairy, smell bad, walk funny, frequently pregnant. I'm pretty sure it wasn't bigfoot.

Is that any relation to the River Rats that are indigenous to Missouri? They match the description you've given but usually have a mullet. When the Mississippi River floods, they refuse to move and take a canoe to the store to get cigs...

Wouldn't there be a few photos from hunter cams that are in every forest?

Not to mention all the poachers sneaking around.

there should be at least a few bodies right?

If someone found a bigfoot pair, started breeding them as pets, and everyone in the country had one...

I still wouldn't believe Rick Dyer if he told me he saw one.

I would like to see a grainy video of a real Bigfoot shoving Rick's rifle up his ass.

I wonder if there was a lone star card found in the area where the "specimen" was collected...

My cousin works for the BBC as an Editor and has told that the 'bigfoot' shooting in the movie was staged. I thought everyone already knew about this. My recollection is that Rick Dyer created a little video on his cell phone that showed a bigfoot face near a tree. I think it was made to look like it was chewing something. It was just the head and shoulders with prosthetics and make-up, but apparently it looked good enough to convince the Director to go back to America for a last chance effort to film the mythical creature. When they camped out in the area where Dyer said he took the cell-phone video, Dyer then staged an actual visit by the creature ... it was a pretty big homeless person he paid to get into some make-up etc (and a different guy than he used for the cell-phone video, which I believe he filmed at home in Arizona or Nevada). And yes, the fake bigfoot guy did give the Director a pretty harsh bump, really flattened him. When he realized what had been done to him, he was super pissed off. And I believe he left the camp area immediately. As for the film, lots of people think it ends really strangely. That's because it's not the real ending, which will be included in what airs on the BBC. I was told the film company left the hoax bit in for initial screenings at festivals and for preview showings but when it gets aired on the BBC it will also include the details about Dyer's obsession and just how far some of the sasquatch hunters will go ... and that this is something like this guy's fourth or fifth hoax. Anyway, like I said, I thought everyone already knew all this stuff. "Pass it on."

Has anyone been following the on going saga of self proclaimed "Bigfoot tracker" Rick Dyer? ...
