I was on my way back from Columbus this weekend and happened to stop at a large outdoors store to see what they had of interest.
Here's this guy standing behing the knife counter showing a couple of customs to some non-knife folks and I blurted out, "hey those are made by Rick Hinderer aren't they"... well I was excited, they were the only customs in the place....
Then I looked at the guy showing off the knives and it was Rick.
I could see my wife's eyes roll back in her head as he and I started talking custom blades and about 45 minutes later we were back on our way home.
I just want to add that his knives are great pieces of work. Rick has been making custom parts for years for many big name makers (he makes many of the parts for Ken Onion's Mid-Techs
) and I'm glad to see his pieces getting more attention.
If I had the money I would have brought one home with me, Rick is a great guy and a maker I'm planning to keep a close eye on.
