This is definitely a sturdy knife. I had to compare it to my Microtech LCC D/A, for reference, as that's my favorite EDC. It's pretty hefty, even considering the reduction in weight from the G10 handle. But, this is by no means a negative, as it's all muscle in this knife. No 'fat' to trim on this one. Tip-up is my prefered carry option, so I won't be switching the clip. I like the design, and uniqueness of the clip, as too many people leave their clips boring-looking.

That detent is something else. My thumb is already sore from overcoming the pressure when opening with the studs. If this were mine, it wouldn't be a problem, as I wouldn't hesitate to flick this one open. I'll refrain from doing so with the passaround. When closing, you have to have your thumb in just the right place to keep it from biting. My thumb falls naturally to that spot, but it may be a potential problem for some, as the little guard is fairly small. Luckily, this could be avoided by choosing the flipper option when ordering your own.

I like the traction grooves in all the right places. There is enough on the blade and back of the knife to allow a variety of grips, moving forward onto the blade for delicate work, or back farther. They might be a little agressive for extended use, but for occasional use they provide great grip.

The extra-large hole for a lanyard is a plus, as most knives have such small holes that it's nearly impossible to get a decent lanyard through.

Orange G10. Okay, so it does look good. It shows dirt and grime quite well, but you're not going to lose this one in the woods. I like carbon fiber, or blue-black G10, or just plain black. Personal preference... The texture is perfect, though. Not too rough, but plenty of grip.

The "Spanto" blade is oh, so sexy. Beautiful grinds, and finish. The full thickness is carried out to within 1/4 inch of the point, without sacrificing to the oddness of a tanto edge. A great compromise! Now, personally, I find it too thick for my EDC purposes, and would prefer a much thinner blade profile, such as on my LCC. For 'tactical' use, though, this design is much more appropriate than the almost-distal taper on my Microtech. It's a matter of choice, I know...

Overall, I have to say that this is one of the more appealing tactical knives I've handled lately. Nothing can be said against the fit and finish, or materials and attention to detail. There is obviously a lot of time and thought that went into this design, on all points. With a few different personal choices, this could easily be the design that becomes my first custom folder.
