Named by Rick as "Firestorm"
The Blade is 5" long 1 1/8" wide and 5/32 thick.
Choice of BG-42,S30V and D-2.
Overall length is 9 1/2"
Handle material is G-10, carbon fiber, and a host
of other handle materials are available.

The handle is fully textured with the tang having serrations at the thumb ,forefinger, and at the back of the handle for a thumb purchase in the reverse grip.It all makes for a very comfortable yet firm grip. Rick says that he will also be offering a different blade style which is a slight recurve.
These include a multi-carry option kydex sheath.

Quite a nice looking knife!

Wow, I like that pattern on the handle a lot. Looks like an excellent mid sized knife.

I know of 2 of these that arent going to make it to the Blade show. They should be pulling up in my driveway about Tuesday.

Fantastical! i am going to have to know what he used to make that handle? think he did it my hand?

i week or so ago i was thinking to myself that with all the knives i've owned in the past 5-6 yrs, i've only bought 1 fixed blade, and sold it because it didnt FIT my collection (like a brend fixed blade doesn't fit ANY collection what the heck was i thinking shhhh) anyway as i was thinking about what i wanted in my next fixed blade, a good all around general purpose strong knife!!!! and what do you know, here it is by rick hinderer, the master (foldermaker) himself, folks i've know rick for s few yrs now, and can tell you he's a great guy, and a better knife maker, if your in the market for a fixed blade or folder give rick a shout you wont be sorry you did.

Awesome knife! Love the blade, love the handle, love the sheath system. Excellent package. Email coming your way Rick!

Thanks Blademan!Looking forward to your mail!Tom,the handle is regular g-10.The grooves were cut in with a 1/8 carbide ball nose endmill.I only went .030 deep with the cut,but it really makes a non slip grip.

Tom,Thanks a bunch!I know what ya mean about those pivots.Since my lathe went kaput I've been in the same boat as all the other knifemakers.I may have found a source tho. There's a guy close to me who has a couple Hardinge cnc's and the quote I got from him looked pretty good, plus he knows our tollerances,he does alot of earospace stuff. In the mean time launch a raid over at Kens,I'll creat a diversion, and you run in and snatch'em :)He got most of my last one's.See ya at Blade!!

Great knife Rick ! Ignore Mayo he's grumpy all the time :)
The things I like about your knife is that there are no wasted spaces. You have made use of the entire blade as well as the handle.
I like the fact that you have textured the handle. I see this as the next trend in knives. More and more makers are adding texture and or layering to there knives .Tho it's in it's infancy right now I believe this to be an obvious comming trend ,and your chosen texture balences out and matches your knife well. I think you have a good sence of symetry and proportion.
I don't know if most people realize this or not but Rick is known for his art knives which fetch thousands of dollars .I think it's cool that your now making stuff people can afford and use .
Good Job!!

Well, I got the two Hinderer tacticals yesterday. I am very impressed! Originally, the idea was for me to keep one and let my friend buy the other, but I am having serious doubts as to whether I can part with one of these. Rick really outdid himself on these knives(especially at the price), and I expect him to sell a buttload of these. If you are going to the Blade show, do yourself a favor and at least go check these out in person. The balance is superb and Rick really knows how to grind. Rick made the mistake and sent me one with G10 and one with carbon fiber, and now I have a reason to keep both. If both had been G10, maybe I could have parted with one. :)

I am really looking forward to the bigger, fighter version of this knife. ;)

Yeah that's a gret looking knife.., -and- form and function never hurts.., really nice piece.., thanks Gary...

Thanks guys! And Dan,thanks,I'm glad you like the two Firestorms that I sent you.And believe me it was an honest mistake that I sent you two that were a little different from each other so you would have to choose ;)Seriously tho I'm glad you enjoy them.I'm working like crazy getting more done for Blade.(Wait till you see the 7" fighter version)
