This is Rick's first flat ground knife.I think,he did a great job,I will use the heck out of it!
It has 154 CM steel,5/32" thick stock, tapered tang & a swedge! Butterscotch paper micarta, because its a unique flavor.Fully contoured handle. The blade is about 7.5".We tossed alotta thoughts around on this, prior to last years Blade Show.
Rick put a few of his own added ideas in on it,maybe you can see & comment on a few.
He delivers ! & aims to please ,Thanks Rick :) !

The swayback desk style knife,I'll use as a paring knife. That has Ivory micarta with black micarta pins.

Enjoy & Thanks,
-Vince :)

That sir, is a very beautiful kitchen set

I see a little curvy "Shun" influence in Rick's Chef Knife. I love the handle shape and the tapered tang is a really nice touch. Very Nice
Diggin that swedge too :D

The Bose ? Well, that's just a given ;)

Loving it, Rick sent me a PM the other day, when he gets back in 3 or 4 days, my desk knife is going to be finished. Can't wait, he does "Wicked Sharp" blades.

I was thinking the same thing....I like the Ken Onion Shun knives and this one has a similar look. Very appealing.

Butterscotch .... yum. Great looking knife for the kitchen Vince. Looks like it will serve you well and look great doing it.

Thanks ,here is a crappy shot of a few I keep outta the general population.Kinda keeps the wife in check this way,she knows if she use one of these,it better be proper

Cool knife! I like that holder are the magnets hidden in the wood. I have been thinking about doing some holders that way.

Chris, that is in fact a magnet strip, the magnet is set in maple.
I tried to find an old thread for info on that for you,but I can't locate it.

Thanks for the nice comments all,
-Vince

VCM3...Hey share the love!!! I saw that knife block and wondered where to get one. Does it work well?? I like the idea that it won't scratch the knives

Post #4 in this thread :

It works great & I can keep my cherished custom knives, even though users, seperate.
Below the strip I have an AG Russell block with knives for the rest of the family.
The magnet strip works real good.I have been contemplating, though, claiming one cabinet draw, for my custom kitchen knives.

VERY nice Vince. Looks like a great size and shape for kitchen duties. That yellow handled knife second from the right on your magnetic rack looks like a handy knife also.

I apologize,I somehow have seemed to hijack my own thread, but it's all good & I'm sure Rick & Bret appreciate the good words.
BTW there's a real nice T Bose on that strip, too

Looks like it would be a real pleasure to use.

I got a chance to do some serious food prep today (veggies). To say it straight up,so far,to date, this custom chef is hands down the best I've personally used.
It is balanced with that tapered tang,so well, and with that contoured handle,it feels weightless, but also feels as if it assists your cutting motion.
Really fantastic knife Rick,Thank You,
-Vince
