Kieth's thread about snobbery in the Custom forums, prompted me to post this,as well as to show Rick's knives. He certainly is a heck of a nice guy & a pleasure to work with.
Most all my custom knives are carryable/useable knives.I'd say mid price range & I am one for showing new found makers work,in the foreums, when I can.
Rick,is focusing on making slipjoints & there are a few threads in the trad.forums, showing some & one in particular he recently made for me,a trapper with mammoth.

But his talents as a knifemaker are evident, when you take a look at these hunters here,I'm sure you'll agree :

I'll post a link to the trapper thread as well,Thanks,

Rick was going to call this the NY Backpocket knife I like the sound of NY Special Trapper
At 3-7/8",it is everything a 4" slipjoint folder will be,but scaled down a bit.In a slipjoint,1/8" & 1/4" differences may not seem to be much size, but they change the proportions moreso than you'd think

Thanks Again Rick

And Always, thanks to Tony & Reese Bose for sharing thier patterns & knowledge :thumbup:

Vince,
This is what I was talking about in that thread. A maker with a LOT of potential...

I just met Rick, recently. He is a hell of nice guy...
You should see some of his Bowie's, just some real beauties. (These two are nice.)
( He is into slip joints now and doing very well, they are very hard to make WELL. I know been there done that- NOT trying to be a know it all or SNOB..;))
And I'll say this here... in all good, and as a friend ..... he reminds me of a big Ole kid... with a BIG heart. :D:D:thumbup:
You just could not ask for more....

Anyone that can turn out work like this has a lot of potential for certain. Very nice, clean work!

I'm glad I started this thread.Rick wants to make super high quality slipjoints & I can see an improvement with every knife he makes. I was blown away by that trapper he made, from a mere discussion about what I wanted.
Todd,he commented to me about your knives as well (I told him, that I thought your knives were FINE & CONSISTENT in QUALITY) & really wants to go,on these slipjoints. But he asked where he should post a few fixed blades he took pics of,before sending them out.I told him,the makers gallery.

Then I read that thread & said to myself,I need to get Rick here, too.
I still have yet to talk with him about those sheaths, too If thats his work,I'm floored now!!

Good stuff,Thanks Everyone & Happy Holidays,
-Vince

the guy's got the recurve down, I'll give him that:thumbup:
Really great handle shapes going on and super fit/finish, from what I can see.
Verrry nice indeed.

Reading that snobbery thread again,I'd just like to say these are custom handmade knives.
I was referring here to a mid priced maker
Thanks,
-Vince
