In the slip joint folder catagory Bill Ruple, Eugene Shadley, Tony and Reese Bose come to mind. I really like the work of Rick Nowland and am wondering if anyone out there has any comments on Ricks work?

sagan47, welcome to BladeForums, especially to the Traditional Forum.
I have this Nowland, although it is the only one I have handled or seen live, I will say that it is a fine piece of work. Half stops, scales are dovetailed into the bolsters, nice snap, the whole nine yards. His stuff is top notch if this one is any example.

(Edited - OK I just did a search here on Rick and lo and behold I found a post of mine from 9/25/03 talking about a little black lip pearl puppy by Rick. For some foolish reason I let it get away. So I have handled two not one.)

I have a Saddlehorn from Rick that I like a lot and carry/use (as the pictures show) quite a bit.

I think his work is up there for sure.

This particular one has to date the best looking color bone I have seen, I just love the yellow-green combo. Great walk and talk to boot!

The first one looks like a good all around utility knife; its handle looks amazingly comfortable. The other two are just beautiful.

Thanks!

The fixed blade is a Denning Black Widow and the Damascus SJ is by Darren Thomas with Damascus by his twin brother Devin, it also has mokume bolsters and some of the deepest green bone scales I've ever seen with nice deep jigging.

That Saddlehorn from Rick is plain old cool. I am hoping I will come across something like that soon. The best price I could find was $475. It is out of stock (Of Course), but is that the going price? I am gonna snatch one up when I can.

Thanks!

Yep, that's about the going rate. I've seen them as low as $450 and high as $500 in this pattern.

Last I checked AZCK had quite a few Nowland's in stock, may want to check there.
