I just got a used Ricochet in the mail today that I "won" on e-bay. All the screws are Torx, so I took it apart and cleaned it and lubed it with silicone grease. Now that I've actually see what the inside of a Speedsafe knife looks like, I can really appreciate the simplicity and sturdiness of the design. The Speedsafe does a little sluggish now, though, I think from the grease on the washers. The knife is definitely used, but except for some pitting on both sides of the blade its in fairly good shape. This may be a good excuse for a light regrind.
Does the tape on the liner over the Speedsafe spring need to be left in place?
Also, would a regrind be something to consider to get rid of the pitting?
