Lately I've been on a real SAK kick. As I've written about before, my longtime fav is the 84mm Tourist, which is just a smaller version of the Spartan.

A couple years or so back, our pal jackknife gifted me a very solid used Super Tinker. Great knife! Lately I started toting it, because it has scissors, which I use a lot especially when I'm around the kids (there always seems to be some string or thread to snip and the scissors are great). Then, missing the corkscrew (and eyeglasses screwdriver), I found a great deal on a Climber.

This got me to thinking ....

How come Victorinox makes a "Tinker," an "84mm Tinker," and a "Super Tinker" ............. but once they add a corkscrew, they don't call it the "Spartan," "84mm Spartan" and the "Super Spartan"?!

Instead, they brand them the Spartan, the Tourist and the Climber.

Sounds like you're only problem is with the name, and really that's just for marketing. I have an Explorer Plus, nowhere on the knife is that name stamped on it. In fact I don't know of any SAK with the model name stamped on them. So if you wanted to call your knife a Super Spartan, you can.

Exactly right ...... these are all GREAT knives. And "problem" is probably not the right word: I'm just a knife knut and SAK lover shooting the bull. :D
