I was given a set of 11 Riders of the silver Screen Collector knives, So far all i know is that each knife has two blades. From what ive heard there is sometimes an X mark on the blade over the company name (Camillus New York). I checked all eleven knives and none have an x. Is there anything that anyone can tell me about these knives and possibly the worth? Oh yeah, all the knives are of different people like Zorro, tom mix, lash larue, lone ranger, etc. thank you for your time.

Many knife companies mark an X over the tang markings to designate the knife as a 'second' or something they cannot sell retail. That your knives don't have the X is a plus.

I don't know much about these knives, but you can check ebay to see what they sell for.

Welcome to the forums!

Smokey Mountian knife Works (SMKW) sells them, check out their web site.
Yes the X over the makers mark does indicate a factory second.

Good collecting !

The Riders of the Silver Screen knife series was manufactured from 1991 through 1994. The original retail price was $29.95 each and 11 knives were offered in this series. Today these knives are valued at $50.00 each.

Thought I'd resurrect this with a question. Are the handles celluloid or are they a different kind of plastic. I have 2 of them I bought several years ago when they came out (Lone Ranger and Tonto).

Any more information on these would be appreciated.

Have a great BladeForums day! :)

There were two styles of the Riders of the Silver Screen knives made. One was the novelty knives and the other was the Remington Trapper made by Camillus. These Cowboys were also portrayed on a Barlow style knife, I dont think they were under the Riders of the Silver Screen name.

In the Remington Trapper knife there were only 5 different knives made:

Hopalong Cassidy
The Lone Ranger
Red Ryder
Roy Rogers
Gene Autry

I have 4 of them pictured below. I am missing Hopalong Cassidy. If anyone has an extra Hopalong Casidy, I would like to buy it or trade for another knife.

One of the knives made were not to be released because the Family did not give authorization. I am not sure which one of the knives it was.
