Does anyone here actually own one of these? I'm assuming these must have more of a novelty reason but I'm just curious if anyone here as actually handled or owned one.

Cool knife!
I need to find me some friends like that, all i ever get are socks!
(however i think there will be a leatherman xe6 under the tree this year )

You could make me even more envious and tell me a chick gave it to you. Apparently knife savvy chicks do exist, just not any of the ones i know.

Everytime i see an XVAT it reminds me of the giant prop SAK that used to be in the display of a local sporting goods store. Picture a Swisschamp but about 15-20 inches tall. It had electric motors concealed within that would make the tools move in and out. This was back in the late 80's, the store is long gone unfortunately.
Now that would be a cool collectible "display" piece!

I have an old Wenger that's an 11 wide. It's pretty clunky for pocket carry but very handy as a desk tool kit.

I have pretty large pockets in my Carhartt jeans, but I don't think even they'd be able to hold THAT monster of a "pocket-knife".. That knife would make the Vict. Deluxe Tinker that I have one the way look VERY small.:).

surely this is intended to be an example of "hey look what we can do" as opposed to an edc. I'm a fat guy and even i don't have a pocket that would hold it. it'd take me 20 min to just find the knife blade.

I agree that they're made as a novelty item, or an issue of manufacturing pride. But I wouldn't go so far as to say they are worthy of ridicule. I wouldn't mind one, and I bet most SAK collectors desire them also.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

I think they'll sell more to dealers than to the man in the street.

Of course I want one! :D

i would get just to say I got one. I love SAK so this would the last of my collection I guess. I bet if you really needed to you could still use just like any other SAK. It be clumsy, but it will get the job done. :)

One has to then ask, why do I even have a Swisschamp? It takes a pouch to carry and a map to figure out where the tools are.

Of course, I have one because it was a return and I picked it up for $10. The pouch cost $15. It will make a great desk accessory if I ever get back to working at one.

Oh my what a thick tool you have. Actually it is a neat item to look at, it is a small tool box for any fanny pack. I only seen two, due to the price not many will want one.

Actually, I think those are just a little less ridiculous than many other knives I see for sale, including some expensive handmade models being sold as very useful, even necessary, tools or weapons, as in "You're not **** unless you spend a week's pay and wait a year to have one of these."

My exboyfriend wanted one of those. He also wanted to have a collection of every year Chevrolet Impala SS ever made, each with every option installed. Need I say more?

What is wrong with that? I want every year Ford made the f250, every model, every trim options. My wife told me only when hell freezes over and we win powerball. Well don't tell we did win powerball all $5 of it and it is cooling down in Phx so I win!!!

I've played around with my XAVT a bit, and regularly carry an XLT, although I don't know if that qualifies as "huge" to some. I say if it's usable, use it. The gigantic wenger to me, is unusable.
