I don't really know how I got to this point but I decided to oil my blades tonight and they are all out on my desk at once. They are not all ESEE's. I never considered myself a knife collector but I think I need to reconsider that label because my desk looks ridiculous.

I only have 7 knives but that seems like a lot to me since I didn't think I was that into it.

it tends to sneak up on you., next sitting you know you're sitting there the thinking "yup, I'm an addict"! lol

it just hit me tonight while talking about knives with one of the guys I work with...I have over 30 now...

You think that's bad.

Just a few months ago, I thought I had a little over 30 knives and decided to put them in a spreadsheet. I thought it would be fun and give me a better feeling for what I had. Boy was I in for a suprise.

I kept adding, and adding and the spreadsheet kept getting bigger.

I started remembering ones I had in drawers, other places, in the pickup, trailer, toolbox, ect. I worked on it for weeks (in fact, I'm still adding details to it).

By the time I was done (or close to done, I'm still not sure I got them all) I was over 100 knifes. Just can't believe it!?!

I've been into knives since my dad bought me my first when I was 5 or 6, a case stockman. That was nearly 30 years ago. I had a chance to look over my old collection from my youth a while back. I bought a lot of cool looking junk in my intemperate youth. I'm glad I learned about decent steel, and I very glad I learned how to maintain my tools. It's been a long road getting here, but it sure has been fun. I'd guess I own somewhere around 200 knives, 80% of them borderline junk at best.

Ive started to reduce my collection a little. I found it was getting a little out of hand, and I was buying knives knowing I would never use them (Most are illegal to carry without valid reason here in the UK)

I'm at unlucky 13. I guess that means I need to buy another...
Hoping for a BWBM in the near future.

But I consider myself just in the baby stages when I see guys like Horndog....

That is a shame about the stricter laws in the UK. I agree with you though, I'm not really into keeping my knifes in a drawer. I want to use them.

Until about two years ago I had a scant five or six good knives. Then I budgeted in for at least one folder a month. It's gotten kinda crazy since then, and I have really gone a little overboard from that plan. Trying to work back to it. I've gotten more into fixed blades lately, but I find I tend to stay loyal to one or two of those, whereas folders I can randomly grab one.

Anyways, I'm rambling. It's ok to have more knives than you need. Better to have too many for the zombie invasion, than not enough
