this ACU hawk is special.
i owe the Investor that belongs to it about ten cases of beer for being so patient with me on this, he was a perfect gentleman - i'd never made a rifle rest hawk before, and went through a couple designs before i went back to my first dang idea that i considered too hard to execute, of all things.
i made the hawk quite a time ago, it is one of the last Gen 1 Mk 2's to go out the door, at a custom length of 26 inches, and with a machine-screw tool attachment in the head, which allows fine tuning of the Rest's height.
always go with your instincts, i reckon.
this is also one of the first hawks i figured out the Pinpoint Girder Joint Seam on the 1000 Denier Real Cordura Skinned hawks.
i like it a lot, so maybe he will too.
the Rifle Rest was an experimental mix of my homemade ACU micarta, fiberglass and slurries, and 1000 Denier ACU, for the surface of the rest. i would've shipped it last week, but i didn't run out of drool until a couple days ago, and it took two days to dry in the humidity. - yeah, that's it.
the nested machine bolt in its base i am hoping will alllow really nice running shots on deer and elk, with its fine threads allowing pivot without hardly any drop in aimpoint.
i am pretty excited about the micarta/fiberglass combination - it has a great neutral feel to it, i don't know how else to describe it - i can't wait to try some knife handles and maybe holsters with this stuff.
i am going to make some other rests to offer the Investors later - this one gave me a lot of ideas.
the threaded dealie in the background in this shot is an adapter for cameras and spotting scopes and the like.
one of my pink velociraptors "periscoping" over a six foot wall, looking for prey.
thanks for looking, brethren.
this thing is going to make a certain .300 Winchester Magnum- wieldin' brother do a happy-dance, i hope.
