Post your opening day deer pics or stories. Mine is this coming Saturday. I need something to hold me over until then and I know you guys have something!

Rifle Season is this Saturday for us as well. You clean/process your own or take it somewhere?

I'm testing out a different knife this year to use in processing for a review on another site (and I foolishly sold my RC-3 and RC-5 a few years back when selling a bunch of knives to fund some AR goodies), but I'd love to test out an Izula or ESEE-3 on a whole-deer cleaning/butchering to see how the 1095 holds up to that much blood-guts and cutting up against bones.

We gut them then take them to a local guy to process the meat.

I'm bringing the Izula this time and like you, would love to test it out.

Shot this guy on Saturday morning. I would have been perfectly happy with a good doe, but the antlers were an added bonus I guess. Field dressed him with my 3MIL.

I won’t lie, hunting has become hard for me. As a kid I had no problem sitting sun up to sun down because I had no commitments or responsibilities, but these days I check my watch a lot. I’ve learned once I hit “the real world” sitting in the woods isn’t the only thing that I need to be doing. I’ve got lots of work and misc. things that always need done. But, you can’t kill ‘em if you don’t get out there. Wife and I use deer burger in everything we’d use ground beef for unless it is going on a bun. Watching him instantly hit the dirt, never knowing what hit him is a great feeling. I always thank the animal for its sacrifice and let it know it isn’t going to waste.

AR here. I was busy with my daughter in a state competition on sat...didn't get out for opening day. will be going wednesday if the schedule holds. :)

heard on the radio this morning that one local meat processing place took in right at 400 deer this weekend. that's awesome.

Great kills Adam and Partisan! Adam how did your ESEE 3 do skinning your buck?! :D

Our rifle season came in a month ago for eastern NC. Further west in NC it doesn't come in until Mid November either. Deer are very plentiful in Eastern NC. My Only problem is finding a place to hunt. It is getting harder every year.

Worked great. Had a little trouble splitting the rib cage but it was the deer, not the knife. That deer had taken and delivered some beatings in his day and he had the scars to prove it.

Partisan I must say I envy the hunting in Alaska, but not the weather. :D Great harvests you have there.

adam, I'm still waiting for the deer that goes down where it stands. I haven't had one shot that wasn't double lung or heart but still haven't had them drop right away.

There is a nerve cluster right in front of the shoulder,
hit them there and they fold over and drop.....DRT.

I shot a couple of sitka blacktail with my 45-70. They didn't drop where they were shot because the round actually moved them. When they landed they were dead. It was pretty cool to see.
