Rifleman's Hawk or Trench Hawk?

I've been looking at both these from Cold Steel, and I'm stuck on which one I want to add to my collection. My main goal is durability, and I really like the synthetic handle on the Trench Hawk. But I was going to try to put langlets on the shaft, so that kinda leans towards the Rifleman's Hawk. How durable are the wood handles? And do you think the Rifleman's Hawk is a bit too heavy for CQB? I know the Trench Hawk has a slimmer blade profile.

I've been thinking about getting a Rifleman's hawk just cause there is alot of material to remove and it is more of a versatile tool.

Other than the obvious, I'm not sure about the trench hawk. Sure it is cool, but as a tool I can't see what I need a spike for. Although digging around in the garden with one sounds fun... but that spike isn't meant for that.

I hate the "tactical" type hawks like the trench hawk with a passion.

The Rifleman's is a bit heavy for CQB, especially if you aren't using a long knife along with it. The Trail Hawk will be much faster and has some other advantages. If I was going to go for a heavy battle hawk, The Spike Hawk or Pipe Hawk would be my picks. For a fast hawk, the Trail hawk is where it's at.

My last Spike hawk mod came out very light. There was quite a bit of metal removed to achieve the design and light weight.

No, in fact I prfer a fighting hawk to have a hammer poll. In the case where you are fighting several people, it sucks to have the bit of your hawk sink in and then you have to take time to extract it. With a hammer poll, you can make an attack in passing, not have it dig in, and move to the next target with no delay.

If you want a heavier hawk than a trail hawk, I'd recommend the pipe hawk, as the poll is really a hammer, not a pipe bowl.
