Rifleman's hawk questions

I've seen a lot of great hawks on this forum, and I just had some basic questions, I'd like to do some jimping on the top of my riflemans hawk, and I want to etch something on the blade. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for a first timer?

Tip #1 don't be scared. IMO, the most important tip when it comes to this stuff.

Yeah every time I grab a file to try some jimping, I put it back, right now its my only hawk and I am nervous about turning it into an ugly chunk of metal.

This. Cold Steel hawks only become beautiful with work.

True, however that ugliness isn't my fault. Ill probably try it this weekend and let you know how it goes.
