Rigging Knives! Just Ground

Check 'em out... 154cm Rigging knives. One will get Arizona Desert Ironwood scales and the other Black Canvas Micarta with Natural Canvas Liners. These are going to crew on the Cutty Sark!


Tall flat single bevel grind , deeply hollowed, drilled and slightly tapered tang...





Deep hollow on the tang! These are lively in the hand.






Balance just where I like it! These will balance near the index finger after they get scales.

Thanks! The hollow on the tang really lightens them and adds a nice feel... I do it on kitchen knives and some fixed blades depending where I want the balance. Larger choppers are usually left more solid as they often need some weight in the handle area.

I also tapered the tangs a bit, before I do I run the channel all the way through the end of the knife... then taper it enough so it is back to fully flat again. I hope that makes sense! The Loveless book on knife making covers it better than I can explain.

Dang I better get grinding more! And call for a dentist for that rope! You guys were probably out doing the stage rigging at the Friday Night Knife Fights, I always get a knife stolen out of the truck bed when I go too. This week it's bali on bali action with a smatchet showdown as a finale! Extravaganza!!!
