I have always loved the outdoors and living in the country is something that I have always cherished. Being this close to nature is really spectacular.

I walked outside to head to work yesterday and this is what I saw............

I hope the video will play.

Those are all wild turkeys. Tried to get them all in video but some had made it into the woods before I could start recording.

Funny thing is that we do not have a fall turkey season around here because they say there is not enough turkeys.

Give it a couple more years and you'll have enough for a fall season for most of the state if conditions are right. Then the Fall season will be an easy sell. CA found that out when they started planting/re-locating birds, now we have tons. I think predation and the drought is hitting them hard in some areas of the state though.

Great video of the local birds...hopefully they keep doing well!

It would be hard to go to work with all those distractions :)

Video didn't come through for me, a suspicious looking message popped up telling me I needed an update...

You're right, TONS of them out here. I see 25-30 on the VA real estate in Livermore just about every time I go. Animals are protected on VA grounds and word is, you'd get in more trouble punching one of them than you would a person. They seem to know they're untouchable there, they're not afraid of people in the slightest and even block the roadway on many occasions. Also see tons of deer loitering around there. The animals are getting smart  I'd see herds (flocks?) of turkeys up on the mountain in BFE fairly regularly, but the were really skinny, I'd much rather eat the fat birds at the VA, I think the vets at the nursing home feed them.

There are a lot down here in SW Ohio now too. Its funny, as big as they look you only get a breast the size of a big chicken lol. But they sure do taste good all fried up.

There are getting to be a ton of them down here. Not a days goes by that I do not see some. 30 years ago you had to go way back into the deep dark woods to maybe find one.
The Wild Turkey Federation has really done its job.

Always seems to be the case.......they're everywhere when its "out of season".
However......that's a huge flock.

It's nothing for me to see 15 or more on the trail camera in the fall, but try to find them in spring. We don't have a fall season either, and I've never understood it. Heck, I don't understand why we can't shoot a hen. You can't eat the beard.
