Hello to the Forum.

These knives come from a collection that was inherited by a friend of mine. I am trying to come up with some information and/or estimates on possible values for him.

I cannot seem to find very much information on either of these makers.

Any comments or observations would be appreciated. Thanks.

A few pictures below.

Don't know much about the Rigney, but the Skys are collected by a select few... :D

Value for his knives are all over the place, since the number of collectors are not as great as for some other makers of comparable quality. Bob Hajovsky died in, I believe, '93.

Hi ,

The dagger by Bob Sky is the 'Tiger Tooth dagger' model (8 inch blade) ; base price : $ 275 in 1987
The sub hilt figther is the 'Razor Back Combat' ( 8 inch blade) ; base price : $ 260 in 1987

I don't know much about Rigney, sorry...

W. Rigney quit making knives but is still alive, wherever he is from, you might try to look up his phone number and give him a call. He was an outstanding knifemaker.

Willie Rigney's knives are highly collectible, especially his daggers. For good reason, as they are beautifully designed, with fit to match.. Ron Skaggs worked on many of them... Best, Rich

I hate to burst your bubble, but you are looking at $1500 worth of knives (in toto) on today market. Ebay is a good reference for Bob Sky knives.

If it were cord wrapped with tigerstripes it would be worth a LOT more.

Ahh...You just beat me to my edit.. LOL... I was hoping no one picked up on that.... How lame can I be??.. What makes it worse is I'm kind of a "metal" guy, and have no idea why I even allowed Ricky Skaggs into my head to begin with.. I have a feeling I'm going to get a little guff for that one...Thanks Anthony

Hi ,

More about Mr Hajovsky in ' The gun Digest book of knives' 2 nd edition ( 1982) , pages 116 to 119, the profile is by B.R. HUGHES and is entitled ' Lone Star knives from Scotland'.

Bob Sky receded less than 100 mi. from me. Bob and I use to be the only two custom makers at the Wichita Falls gun show. I was new I could sell a few $100 hunting knives. :o
Not long after he passed, all this belonings was auctioned off. He had no heirs I was aware of. I do not know where the money went. his stuff got scattered to the four winds. :(
I did not know of auction till it was over with. He had a bunch of heat treated unfinished blades that went for bottom dollar. I have put on handles and finished up a couple for customers.
He did unique quality work, for many years. I hope he will be remembered for a long time.

Many thanks to all posters.

I knew these were some well made knives.

Sorry for my tardiness in replying. Just got back from hunting.

Thanks again.

I appreciate all the information. Lots of knowledge in these forums.....
