Bought a bowie made by "Rimpler Knives." Only note via "Search" here was that someone made a knife from a Rimpler blade. Internet search finds several references to Rimpler blades. No address. Can anyone out there in KnifeLand add any info on this maker?

Back in the early 80's he made two large slip joint, double blade folders of my own design. One of these was stolen out of the US Mail so if you see a Rimpler knife marked SDD on the handle I would like to hear about it. The other knife I carried for years working as a forester here in the Northwest. I think he was in Indiana at that time. Haven't had any contact with him for years.

As you see. not a lot of info out there. I had only one hit in the "Search" mode; for a Rimpler blade someone used to make a "1700's" knife. Can't find him on search engines like Google.

Had some (or at least one) for sale......
You might want to try there.
Also, if you know his first name (nothing came up for me)
You might just want to try doing a white pages search.
Since very few hits came up for rimpler knives, it's probably a safe assumption there aren't too many Rimplers out there. (probably)

Hello As i am new please forgive me for butting in here. The maker is Paul Rimpler and is from a small town of Twelve Mile,Indiana. He was know for some fine knives and he has shown others in the area young and old how to make quality knives.Although I belive he is in his 80's, and from what I hear poor health.I fear he is not making knives anymore but am not sure.I have 15 of his knives that i have been trying to find more info on so that i might move them. BTW one place I was reading was giving him the title of the best made thrower knife called the "black river thrower" I belive was the name

Well hello yourself, Swampmaster.

I found several references to Rimpler throwers but zilch on his other knives.

What sort of knives do you have? The bowie I have is a real monster with a bkade 10.45" x .245" and over a pound in weight (581 grams).

Tom

I have two of his throwers,a 9 1/2 utilty ,a fishing knife,a bone handle skinner,a fixed blade (dont know what they call it but I love it),3 blanks, and I will have to look again in the box to see what else I missed as I am getting ready for a garage sale and need to get them out and priced anyway.

And if they dont move here I will be taking them to Kenton,Ohio on Labor day Does Ohio have any knife laws on fixed blade knife length?

Welcome to the forum.

If you don't sell them you might want to mention them over on the for sale forum. You might get some interest.

Swapmaster,
I am looking for Rimpler made knives.Paul is a very good friend of mine.In fact he is coming out of retirement to make some small folders he says.I am interested in Hunters and combat / fighter knives. And large folders that he made.

good use of the search, wolverine, but I doubt you'll get a response. Swampmaster only made 2 posts on Bladeforums, both in this thread, just 6 days apart, and 2 years ago. His last visit was this year, but back in Feb. Maybe the email in the account profile is still good, you could try that.

and welcome to BF :)

Sorry I read alot but dont post alot. you may try to call me 732-0629 I have sold almost all but have three left. But would love to discuss rimples knives with you
