Have not posted a knife in a while and thought this one would be nice to show. Ring guard fighter , my Damascus in feather pattern blade, ferrule in W's pattern and ring guard in interrupted San Mia Damascus. Handle is ancient Walrus ivory. The end I left natural as an Inuit Indian hacked it off the tusk and used for something? Blade length is 4 7/8 inches and overall is 9 1/8th inches. Stand is Black Walnut.

Wow, nice job. I love these "re-used" handles the most. Don't care for the dropped edge on the blade too much but love your interpretation of the "ring'. Nice work on the damscus...

This was not a re-used handle. I cut the tip off and drilled it for the tang. That was a little scary. It was suspected that it was used as a net sinker.

Sorry, Mr. Graves, I meant it was an "artifact" handle. You no doubt made it a knife handle but preserved some of the history and "aging"...

always enjoy seeing your knives Dan. Someday hopefully I'll be at a show to see them in person. Lovely damascus. Not a big fan of ring guards but everything else is very nice. Background selection for the photo might be better though.

SWEET! That damascus is OUTstanding as is the walrus ivory. I like the ring guard as well.

That's beautiful Dan. I really like the lines and proportions on that knife. Although I wish the lighting were a bit better in the photos - I suspect they don't do they ivory justice

That's a gorgeous knife. I really like the dark colors, it gives it a gracefully aged look. Nice work!

You guys make me want to blush! Ah shucks. Thanks.

That is really nicely done. Great styling and proportions, and very graceful lines.
Love that handle and the choice of damascus is perfect in this one. I am really taken by this knife... That first photo is going into my "virtual" collection.:)

Great pattern Dan
What are the steel materials used for the damascus?
And what does it means by "interrupted San Mai Damascus"?

Mohd.

The metals used are 1095 and nickel. Interrupted San Mai Damascus is where I San Mia a billet of damascus then upset the metal and when it is ground flat it makes pools of Damascus with a black background of metal. This one was fun to make. Its great to get a good piece of handle material. Thats where the start of a knife comes from. It was designed to fit the handle. Thanks.
