Have not posted a knife in a while and thought this one would be nice to show. Ring guard fighter , my Damascus in feather pattern blade, ferrule in W's pattern and ring guard in interrupted San Mia Damascus. Handle is ancient Walrus ivory. The end I left natural as an Inuit Indian hacked it off the tusk and used for something? Blade length is 4 7/8 inches and overall is 9 1/8th inches. Stand is Black Walnut.

OUTSTANDING! I have been getting into ring guards recently. I have be darwing up some stock removal ideas. This picture reminds me I need to learn how to use a hammer.

Great work, Dan. That's a beautiful piece. I've been enjoying that little dagger I picked up from you a while back. You do very nice work.

That's top notch work all the way around. Very nice.

Thanks for the kind words. Just love playing with Damascus.

well,to be honest i dont like that hook

Your first post with a negative comment, welcome to the forum Cliff Stamps:jerkit::rolleyes: Lets see some of your work!:p

Dan, nice work as usual and I would expect nothing less than perfection from your work! Each piece just gets better and better.

Dan - wonderful knife - really like the way it all comes together. Very nice use of the ivory. I normally don't get too excited about ring gaurds, but have to say that this really is one of the nicest ones i've seen.

Victor, first welcome to the forums. Everyone has and is entitled to their opinions. Your opinion is just as valid as others. However, there are ways to go about things that are less confrontational. To just come out and say "I don't like that" (especially on a knife as nice as this) isn't constructive. It's kind of like punching someone in the face without a cause. A better way to go about things is how stevewest did it. Point out the positives before laying out what you feel could be the negatives (or even just your default opinion if there are no negatives). That's just a principle of leadership and a common courtesy.

Now if this was Dan's second ever knife and there were tons of grossly visible mistakes, that's an opportunity to lay out constructive criticism in order to help Dan improve. However, Dan's been doing this a long time and his work is that of a master-level smith with superior fit and finish, material selection, design, and execution. There's nothing wrong with the knife Dan posted, so it's just your opinion on the ring guard (it's not a hook). Honesty is appreciated and valued here, but try and deliver it with tact.

I really don't know why I am even typing out this response....

Nathan, You are much more polite than I am. New registered member with only one post and that's negative. Terminology shows ignorance as well. Definitely not the sort of person we are used to seeing here.

Stunning knife. Everything about it looks great.
