J. Marsillo pointed me in the direction of Holcutters, to cut holes in steel. I had tried everything before from regular holesaws, to large drill bits. I dont have a mill and the bits and saws just chatter in my drill press. I splurged and bought a holcutter and it works like a charm.

This is 1084 with cocobolo and a nice clay quenched hamon.

Let me know what you think.

The file pattern goes all the way around the ring and on the belly of the knife also.

That's one beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing. Great filework, creating an especially nice effect around the ring.

And as another member said on other post "your knives have character"

The whole knife is interesting, really like the shaping on the blade :)

What size hole did you cut? Great knife, thanks for posting it.

This one is not an order, I was considering keeping it, but I will probably offer it up for sale here soon. I had it in beginning stages for a while, but it sat on the bench as i finished some orders. I did the final steps as a couple orders were tempering. The hole is 15/16ths. The holcutters work very well, nice and smooth. Thanks for all the comments everyone.
