Just completed - in RWL34 stainless steel, 4inch blade, flat ground, tapered tang, satin hand rubbed. Red liners and stabilised Coolibah Burl handles (very similar to Mallee Root Burl). Opinions welcomed.

I'd also appreciate any comments as to whether the larger pics look better or are they too overwhelming ? Many thanks. Jason.

I don't think I have to tell you what I think about this one, Jason :D . So what made you decide to do another one?

edited to add: I like both sizes of picture--don't see the size making a difference in these pics or in the Pearl pics in the other thread. I like the circular background a little better than the second pic above. I don't know if it's just me, but the background image seems to draw my eye first--don't know why, though. The circle backgrounds don't do that, though. Probably just me, though.

Ah, I was wondering when you'd jump in... :D I got an order from someone local who really liked the original design. However, given that I'd made that first one for you as a one-off, I accepted the order on the priviso, that I could alter various aspects of the design to make it individual. The main areas of difference are in the shape of the handle, especially the buttend and the contours of the handle slabs. The blade shape is subtly different and I remember that the filework was also different.

I don't anticipate making many of these, I still find it a hard design to execute well and the shape is more labour intensive.

I think I might be going back to my original style of photos, and I've been poring over as many Coop photos as I can find to learn more "style"... ;) :D Jason.

That is a great blade!! I look like the fit and finish is perfect.

That's cool Jason--I think this is just one of those knives that really deserves to get made and you do such an awesome job on it--I'm just glad you agreed to do it for me in the first place.
