I have been waiting to post a Thank You after I went on an outdoor trip and used this sublime knife Rinos gifted me, but the plan keeps on getting set back. I feel I cannot wait any longer to honor our friend. I have carried it on my work drives every Sunday and was able to get a few pictures of it. I will get more pictures of this treasure as I make many memories with it over the coming years. Rino infused this knife with his energy for 10 years in the magical land of Croatia and decided to gift it to me. I am humbled.
Now this knife was made by Rino himself and the craftsmanship is superb! It's appox. 7" long with a 2 & 3/4ths blade. Perfect. The blade is hand forged by Yrjö Puronvarsi (a Finnish smith), who is retired now. His grandson, Antti, has taken over the forging of blades to continue the legacy of Yrjö, as i understand it. The handle is made from stabilized antler (bolster) and Birch wood and the tip is Reindeer antler. The sheath is very old olive wood and leather in the true Finnish design.
It's hard for me to express what this puukko means to me in words. I won't even try. I will honor this gift by using it as Rino did and making my own memories come alive
Thank You....Rino
