Just heard she died at her apartment. Really heartbreaking. :(

No real details in the news yet, more later I guess.

You know what I find really messed up, why people are more concerned with the death of another drug addict who OD'd, there are thousands across the world who OD everyday, amy winehouse is just another one - while yesterday, children were slaughtered in Norway and I have seen very few say RIP for them...

amy winehouse had all the means to help herself, and she still chose to do drugs, for that I have no remorse for her death, she had it coming , i mean look at her lyrics, they tried to make me go to rehab and i said "no", only proves her ignorance...

IMHO

the saddest part about her death is that people who aren't connected to her actually care...

My grandpa always said dont disrespect the departed.

STFU this isnt about Norway.

ISKski: I understand your point of view, but if you feel the need to state things the way you did, start your own thread in Whine & Cheese. I've known two people in my life who lived the same way Winehouse did (minus the talent & fame), and died pretty much the same way: one OD'd, the other from alcohol poisoning, both before thirty years old. So, while I'm 'not connected to her', as you say, this is still a tough, sad thing to hear about.

Ren: thank you; well stated.

PS: as for the situation in Norway, I can't even wrap my head around that right now. Not that I don't care, it's just overwhelming to think about all that death & carnage carried out by one individual.

No means to make everyone upset, I as well struggled with addiction at one point in my life, + I recently stopped smoking cigarettes this past april .. I do not intend to disrespect the dead.. and i also didn't mean to hijack your thread.
All apologies

Fairwell to ms winehouse, shes now a member of the famous 27 club...

If you know for a fact that she died of a drug overdose, then you know more than the rest of the world does about the circumstances of her death. Yes, it is a posibility that she did, but that does not make it a fact even though everyone jumps to that conclusion. She was also suffering from an unrelated eating disorder. And foul play has not been ruled out.
