Hector my bullmastiff had to put down yesterday. He was having seizures and the last one left him unable to walk. He would have been 9 years old next month. I've been crying like a baby for 24 hours. He was big and stinky, brown and gold like a Twinkie. RIP Big Buddy. God needed a new watchdog for the pearly gates I guess.

I feel for you. Such a tough time. My heart goes out to you and Big Buddy in his new life. Mike

Sorry for your loss - I was close to being in that position last week, but thankfully medication is working. I always think about Paul Harvey's " So God Made a Dog" at times like this.

RIP Hector - my condolences on your loss.

best

Sorry to hear--I know it's tough. I had a big Rottie years ago--losing him sucked.

So sorry for your loss. The big lug was part of the family. I always feel so helpless when I have to do what good dog owners all end up having to do. You will meet again.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

As much as you miss him and all he did for you, never forget how happy you made him and how you gave him the best life he could have hoped for. You were the best thing in that big goof's life and you did a great thing giving him a great home. Miss him, but be proud of your service to a noble animal. He looks like a sweet beast.

I am sorry to hear this. I remember loosing my best friend to a speeding car. He was a German Shepherd/Doberman mix. Good dog. Well, if all dogs go to heaven, mine did and I am sure your did.

When I lost my cat Sam, I cried for days. A gentle, sweet red point, short haired Siamese cat. Gentle to a fault, would break up fights between the other cats in the house. Having to shoot him in the head myself nearly killed me. You must have adored your boy. I understand completely.

May God comfort you in this time of loss.
