LOS ANGELES – Farrah Fawcett, the "Charlie's Angels" star whose feathered blond hair and dazzling smile made her one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1970s, died Thursday after battling cancer. She was 62.

The pop icon, who in the 1980s set aside the fantasy girl image to tackle serious roles, died shortly before 9:30 a.m. in a Santa Monica hospital, spokesman Paul Bloch said.

Ryan O'Neal, the longtime companion who had reunited with Fawcett as she fought anal cancer, was at her side, along with close friend Alana Stewart, Bloch said.

Sad news indeed. After seeing the state she was in at the end of that documentary, I'm amazed she hung in there as long as she did.

Very sad to hear. She will be missed.

She battled a terrible foe (cancer) for many many years.

To me Farrah was the original 'Golden Girl'. I had 'that' poster, everyone else I knew in the 70's had 'that' poster too - but it was the person inside the smile and looks that made so many of us true fans.

RIP you are truly an Angel in my heart. :(

My old wall poster is still etched forever in my mind:

I enjoyed many of her movies after Charlie's Angels. She is a graceful talent that will be missed.

There isn't a red-blooded teenager of my generation who didn't have her poster plastered on his wall. RIP Farrah...

How in the world can Farrah not have more posts and thread views than MJ on this forum. Farrah you will always be remembered by me.

Beggers belief except many of the Jackson posts are negative or critical at best rather than the positive comments upon the courageous and beautiful Farrah.

Yeah I guess I maybe should have looked at the MJ thread but I didn't and truthfully probably still will not. I much prefer to think of the good in people and to me there was alot of good with Farrah.
