I just got word that Ken Warner has passed. Many of the young ones here will not know of Ken, but he was a pioneer in the field of knives. He has been credited as writing the first article on custom knife makers back in the 1960's. Wrote for American Rifleman and Gun Digest and other sporting publications. Ken was a member of the Blade Cutlery Hall of Fame and ABS Hall of Fame. A 'crusty' guy, I for one will miss Ken.
Rest easy brother.

Sorry to hear about Ken, enjoyed his writing in Gun Digest for years. He will be missed.

Remember he edited the "Knives Annuals", a terrific series of books over the years. R.I.P., Ken.

"Knives '97" was probably the first real knife reference I ever purchased and it was put together by Ken Warner. I believe he had Blackjack knives for a while. He made a big contribution to the knife industry.

Was Ken Warner associated with Blue Ridge Knives in Marion VA? I keep thinking he started this business and it owns the Blackjack trademark. Please correct me if I am wrong and elaborate a bit if possible.

Michael Dye Michael Dye I like your statement at the bottom of your post about rattlesnakes (signature area). I never really thought about it but for the most part it is totally true. "Don't tread on me."

Ken owned the rights to the Blackjack logos, tag lines etc. He had Mike Stewart make a small series of Blackjack knives with the Greenville WV markings. Ken sold the rights to Blackjack to Phil Martin of Blue Ridge Knives. Phil continued to have Mike produce classic Blackjack patterns and some are still available.

I bought the Blackjack 1-7 from you a number of years ago. Yes, I know of Stewart's involvement. Bark River makes the classics now.
