Reknowned knifemaker Warren Osborne has passed away. He had a long and fruitful career, and was profoundly instrumental in promoting handmade knives and the fun, safe, responsible use of them. Among many other accomplishments, he set standards and records in cutting competitions, and was a founding member of BladeSports International. His leadership helped it become a truly world-class organization that every "knife person" can be proud of.
By all accounts, he was a class act.
I never met Mr. Osborne, but I know that his work and teachings were prominent, prolific and very highly respected. His dedication to craftsmanship and his positive influence will continue to be appreciated by many, many knifemakers, collectors, and users of quality knives for a long time. Rest in Peace, Warren Osborne, and thank you for making the world a better place.
Please join me in observing a moment of thanks and respect for an admirable human being. We stand on the shoulders of giants.
