Was so excited to get back home & open the two Fiddlebacks that I had sharked on 05/12, a Recluse & a Neckmuk. Got a call on Tuesday, my home had been burglarized:mad: Thieves took my Spyderco folders, watches, jewelry, Xbox games!? & what pissed me off most, the two knives, unopened in the box from Fiddleback Forge. Never even got to see them. I'm thankful that no one was home, they didn't really break anything, & my 18 year old cat was inside, but apparently she slept through the whole thing & was unharmed. What a watchcat. Have lived here 30 years, never had anything taken. Material things can be replaced, but the feeling of being violated, anger, etc.

Still have my prod. Bushfinger, my FF machete (let them come when I'm home!) & the Monarch that I just got from DLT, which was still in the mailbox. The Monarch is beautiful, but the 5/32" stock combined with the small size makes a thicker overall profile than I prefer, so I emailed the dealer about a possible return or exchange for something thinner.

So, life goes on, I'll be there this afternoon to try & shark a couple more beauties to replace the ones I never got to see.

Hope everyone has a good Friday, I'm not going to let this ruin mine. Happy sharking!

TimberlineSpyder TimberlineSpyder Man, I'm really sorry to hear that. I had my house broken into last June (the 27th) and by some miracle, they didn't bother with any of my knives or guns but other things were taken. Probably everyone goes through a roller coaster of being po'd and then violated and back and forth .. I know I did.

Same thing being lucky with nobody being home except my attack parrot. Most days :-) I'm glad they didn't steal him but he may have helped get rid of them because he's so flippin loud when strangers come in the house.

It did give me a reality check about taking videos / pictures of all belongings, keeping scanned images of receipts (ink fades over time) and making sure everything is covered by insurance.

Thanks Warrior, yeah, I'm going through pictures right now, looking to see what stuff I have photos of. Found out that insurance has a pretty low limit on jewelry, which includes watches, etc., unless you specifically add them on the policy & pay higher premiums.

You're right, photo's, serial numbers, receipts, etc. should all be kept in a safe place. Going to get a safe to keep valuables in. I have an alarm system, but on this day my cleaning lady was going to come so it wasn't on. Have lived in this quiet neighborhood for a long time, got complacent I guess. Will keep the security measures up now.

Man, that sucks! So sorry to hear it. Definitely keep your eyes peeled for craigslist and eBay adds and maybe call around pawn shops in your area. There are probably some Facebook groups for your area that keep their eyes out for stolen goods, you may want to check on that or see if there's a local Sub-Reddit for your area. I've seen people post this sort of thing on all of those types of groups and some have had success in recovering some of their stuff.

We live in a pretty good neighborhood, but I've been meaning to get some security cameras for our house anyways, this will probably give me the push to get those ordered sooner than later...

Appreciate the good thoughts:thumbsup: Yep, looked at security camera systems yesterday at Costco. May not have prevented it, but would help in trying to identify perps. Some stuff had serial numbers, will definitely have police put out the word to pawnshops, etc. Thanks for the suggestions re Craigslist, etc. I'll keep a lookout. Some lowlifes have a beautiful Ironwood Neckmuk & a tapered tang Recluse & don't even realize what they are.

Not any more...probably five bucks apiece on the corner or exchange for dope. Too bad...I'm sorry. I'm just calling 'em names now...8204=30458902-83-08536712wep-1i0. And, those aren't very nice words, either.

I've done a lot of research on Security Safes. There's some excellent videos out there as well. Many of them are far less secure than they claim to be. Those that are made with thinner gauge steel can be hacked into with a fireman's axe in a very short time. Especially the side walls. If you're going to purchase a security safe I advise you spend the money on a good one - check the guage of steel on the top and sides, not just tge door - and have it bolted down to the floor. Let's face it a few guys carry the damn thing into your house. Meaning with the proper equipment a few guys can carry it right back out.

Sorry to hear this TimberlineSpyder. Maybe they'll catch the crooks who did this! Let's hope so!!
Good score on that hiking buddy today! Your submit button works a little faster than mine. LOL.

im very sorry to hear you have been violated, i to have been stolen from and the anger, hurt, the feeling of betrayal. alarms and things are only as good as the local police department, while safes and all are great ideas some deterrent ideas might work such as beware of dog signs and things like that. get creative on where to hide the most important things. a man should not have to do that in his own home. i hope you get knives and stuff back or atleast find out who did it

Again, thanks for the kind messages from all. I check out & post infrequently on a few other forums, a little here on Bladeforums in general discussion, some mountain biking stuff, etc., but the overall tone & friendliness here on the Fiddleback Forge forum is the best of any that I've participated in.

Choppaman Choppaman , yeah, I had my heart set on that Hiking Buddy when I saw the preview & was taut as a bowspring with my finger on the submit button as soon as the thread was unlocked:)

I want to give a shout out to Jordan at DLT Trading for his kind thoughts & gesture. They are a great co to do business with.

It's a pain in the rear, the burglary, but I'm going to put it in the past, definitely take more security measures, but not let those lowlifes spoil my day, scored an awesome burl Hiking Buddy on today's FF, and have a beautiful Electric Plum black bolster Recluse coming from DLT!

Sorry to hear that, man. I've been there a couple of times (car and house). Glad your cat's OK.

You know... you might ask Vance if he can post pics of your purchases with a note that they're stolen, just in case the thief tries to sell 'em in the Flea Market or the BF F/S forums.

Being taken like that hurts a lot. I can't stand it. I'm very sorry to hear of this. They'll come back, I had my truck robbed of a bunch of flashlights and Fiddlebacks and a Gossman too a few years back. They came a few times, and I was hunting for them, but never caught them.

We have 3 Neckmucks in stock right now. One is stabilized figured Ash, the other Osage, and the last one jigged bone. We don't have any recluses in stock though. Please e-mail Phillip tomorrow and pick something from our stock to replace that one, and pick one of these Neckmucks. We will get them out ASAP that way. If we have to make specific ones to replace them we can, but its going to take time, and this is the kinda thing we usually struggle with.

Ouch blade brotha! That sucks big time. I can kind of relate, my work van was broken into a few weeks ago and 95 percent of my tools were stolen.

Bad situation/feeling for sure. I hope they catch the scumbags or that karma catches up to them.

I think I'm going to lock up the majority of my small collection, whatever I'm not using, so that if my house does get burgled they won't get my knives. Sucks because I like to rotate a lot.

That's as generous as it gets.

Andy that's an incredibly generous gesture, & it gives me some faith that the dirtbags in the world are outnumbered by the good people, and you are one of them. Thanks so much.

I've replaced the Recluse, DLT Trading had one that I liked so I ordered it & received it today. It's a beauty, Electric Plum (didn't realize it had gold sparkles!) burlap with black bolsters. Love it. And I was indeed Mr Quick Draw last Friday, with my post being the first & sharking a beautiful Buckeye Burl Hiking Buddy, really looking forward to that one. Along with my prod. Bushfinger & machete, my small collection of Fiddlebacks is at least maintaining;)

Your offer is really above & beyond what anyone could expect, & I'm kinda speechless. I'll take you up on it, but just for one knife. I don't want to be greedy & I know as a small business margins are tight. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll touch base with Philip tomorrow, & I'll be there on Fiddleback Friday with my finger on the trigger:)
