Rit Dye

What color are you wanting to do? RIT dye has to go from a lighter color to a darker color. You couldn't dye the scales white, for example.

RIT dyed a Kershaw Echelon blem. It was pretty easy but I put to much dye in the pot. I wanted it to turn out water melon red and got a wine red/purple instead.
 
Can't remember what they made the lightweight handle from... It's translucent blue right?

You may be able to dye it black. If you're shooting for color I'd try a light shade of something that mixes with blue. Yellow for instance. A light yellow *may* give you a green scale.
