I was getting kinda bored with my izula scales for my 14 and decided to grab some rit dye to and give it a shot. The only green they had was " Kelly green" I dropped them in for about 10 min and I'm pretty happy with the end results. I also hit the hardware with a black paint pen.

Next to a new toy I got from the gun show this weekend. It's a file knife made by a local company and my uncle was good friends with one of the guys tht worked for them. Great guys with a great selection.

Hi Kabarcamper, Did you use the RIT dye full strength? Cold? Hot? How long did you soak them? Thanks.

I just eyeballed the amount. I'd say about 10 tablespoons in about 4 cups of water. I brought the water to a boil with the dye and reduced the flame to a low flame and dropped in the scales for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally. The longer you leave them the darker they get so check them periodically I you wanted a lighter color.

Thanks I tried it my BK2 Scales with okay results. I did not leave the dye on the fire. I'll give them another go trying it this way.

It also mentioned using salt for cottons and linens so I added a few tablespoons to the mix.
