but I"ve never seen anything like this. I've got my digi-camera and will post some pics. Both north and south bound lanes of IH45 are going north! I live in Conroe, just 30 miles from Houston and we are expecting 100 mile an hour winds late Fri. early Sat. The exodus of people is just amazing. I live west of town, over'ta Montgomery and when I came to town today, it was like an invasion, the change was palpable; everyone is getting ready. I'm closing my store today (had planned to stay open...) and heading back home to get ready myself.

hoping for luck...

Mitch, Good luck to you and all the others around there. Our prayers are with you all.

Shane

My sister lives in Spring and is way too hardheaded to leave. I'm hoping you all are high enough to avoid the storm surge. I guess the winds won't be any less even if the waves don't get there.

All the best vibes I can muster are being sent your way. Fred

Good luck Mitch! It's going to miss me now completely I think (I better not say that until actual landfall). I'm a little West of San Antonio, so it would have to hit Corpus Christi to affect me any, I believe I'm safe now, but you'll probably be on the Western side of it, pretty big winds.

Prayin for ya Mitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I been watchin the storm on tv and it looks like it's moving more northward into Louisianna so you guys might be spared. I sure hope everyone that went back to New Orleans had the sense to run!

Battin down the hatches. That's what we do up here in N.E. went them suckers head up the east coast. Good Luck Bro!!!!

Tape all the windows real good with duct tape Mitch!!! ....plywood on the windward side windows would be nice.

as I write. I plan to spend the night sleeping on the floor to pevent looting. I know that sounds paranoid but my town, Conroe, is awash in people who are from elsewhere, needless to say, tomfoolery is just waiting in the wings for a chance to act.... I, and my Glock, sleep this eve at my store. Oh, and a shotgun or two.... and some 30 M1 carbines... and a Claymore or three... (oh, not really...!!!) We, the South Texians... will come out alright. I've no intention of shooting anyone over "stuff' no matter how valuble.... I'll just scare'em a little. Only if I gotta... :) chin up!

much thanks for all thoughts....

notice the cell phone and Glock 19 on the counter top. And.... I gotta little fan! ( I love a little noise when I'm sleeping....) Coming to my store, I go over I-45 not a quarter mile back... it is still solid, non-moving traffic. I feel so bad for my fellow Texians! This is not going down well save for the evacuation part...

The Glock is too far away, it should be on your belt with a couple reload mags nearby. A shotgun would be good to have as well, but keep everything else out of sight, you can only hold one long arm at a time. Don't wanna equip the invading horde!

Be safe!

Good luck man!! If you can't post, but can still call when the poo hits the fan, let someone here know you're alright after this is over.

Also -- if you work in a knifestore, you might want to tape down some of the inventory. :D

Stay safe and get the hell outta there if you have to.
