Hey Y'all,

I use a ton of RITR pocket notebooks for work, hiking, etc. I like them because I constantly get them wet and don't have to worry about losing important information. However, they are beginning to be a little costly. I mean, they cost roughly $4 each.

Are there any cheaper options with the same reliability? Or...is there a cheaper place to pick up the notebooks?

Thanks

I've bought waterproof notepads of these brands and have found them to work well, I've also given them to friends and their kids and they worked well for them too.

Rite-In-The-Rain stuff is very expensive in the UK.

take a regular piece of printer paper, spread water seal deck product like thompsons over it till its saturated; squeegee off excess then hang to dry overnight. waterproofs and still writeable. I do this with all maps I print right off my home printer.

the other option is go to a surveyors supply place and buy a whole fieldbook. they are made with rite in rain paper. carefully remove the binding and use the pages as needed.

this is 160 pages for example, breaks down to about 12cents/page

If you check the Internet, you can find waterproof paper being sold by the ream. (550 sheets, Letter size or A4 size.) Take that to your local copy shop and have them cut and pad it for you into what ever size you need. They can pad it with either glued or spiral bindings. You can get quite a lot of pocket-sized pads from a full ream of paper.

Cut a bleach bottle up. Take a section of it, and a pencil.
Tada... water proof writing surface.

A cheap and easy way to make a tablet for scuba diving. ;)
