Ritter/Benchmade RSK

this seems pretty interesting, but it seems to just be a griptilian with a better steel. The blade shape is somewhat different from the griptilian and the handle is identical. There was a limited run of D2 mini griptilians that sold for around 65. So basically you are paying 40 extra dollars for a larger griptilian with imo marginally better steel. I guess overall not a good deal or a bad deal in my book

I ordered one. I'm being told that Benchmade said it should be a late May release. Looking forward to it.

If that had G-10 scales it'd be much more appealing, IMHO.

Still, a nice package. Hope you enjoy it thorougly!

I've also ordered Ritter/Benchmade RSK. I currently own a Benchmade AFCK, with ATS-34 blade. I bought the knife in 1996, and it is serving me well. But as I've heard so much about the Benchmade Axis lock, and I like the shape of the Sebenza looking blade ( I have a Sebenza but don't want to scratch it ), I thought, I'd try this new model. I agree, it would have been nice to see this model with G-10 handle.

I also ordered one because of the steel and blade shape. G-10 would have increased the weight, the Griptillian handle is very functional and ergonomic. IMO it looks fairly rugged and should fill the folding survival knife role well.

If it had G-10 scales it wouldn't be a Griptilian...It would be a 721. :)

I disagree. The regular griptilian with the 440 is a great blade, but having a wider blade and shallower grind to me means a much better slicer. The S30V is a big bonus for only about $25 more than the regular griptilian's retail price. I've got a feeling I'll like this one much more than my regular Griptilian, even better than the Sebenza.

I prefer thumbholes, but damn that is a sexy blade shape! I keep staring at the picture on equipped.org. If I was into thumbstuds, I would get this one.
You will always pay more for a non-regular edition item, so with the blade steel upgrade, different finish, the fact that we're knifeaholics and spend too much on knives anyway, the price seems reasonable. As far as prices:
Retail, $139.99/$95.00 = $45 difference
Cheapest online, $59.99(NGK)/$104.95 = $45 difference.

I got the figure of $25 difference between the $80 retail for a Griptilian and the regular RSK is $104.95 (LTD is $135). True you can get the regular Griptilian for less at NGK, but I think the RSK knife is still inexpensive for what you're getting.

I was eyeballing this knife for a hard user\survival type, but I decided on the Buck\Strider SP. Hope I made the right choice!!!! The RSK looks sweet!!!

To bad I only have enough $$$ to get one :(

The first run of these knives will ship soon according to the folks at aeromedix. IIRC Benchmade recently shipped 100 LE and 37 regular RS knives to aeromedix who will immediately ship to their customers. Fortunately, my order was in early enough that I'll get my regular knife with this first shipment.
