If you could pick one of these to be your EDC, which one would you pick? :)

My Mini is a good EDC, but I have a Manix on order. Its a different class knife. I am sure it will find its way into my EDC also.

Manix no contest. They don't even compare. Ritter grip is a nice affordable s30v blade with a good locking mechanism. The manix is an absolute work of art thats built like a tank. I handled both the mini and normal grip, and they didn't fit with me, both in terms of egronomics and finish. The manix on the other hand has very nice g10, and fits your hand like a glove.

Hmmm... I've never handled the Manix before, but I like what I've read about it and I also like the looks of it (FWIW  ). I do have a regular Grip, and know I like the design... I'd say either the Manix or the RitterGrip.

Manix, because of the "grip" part of the Ritter grips. I like the Axis lock, the blade shape, and S30V but without a decent handle (the materials and shape are wrong for me) the whole package is second rate.

If I could get a mini ritter with g10 then that would be it but as is its gotta be the manix.

I've got a BM 551 Grip and 556 Mini-Grip, so I know what the handle is like on the Ritter. I have to agree with CMD -- the shape of the Grip handle doesn't do much for me, and it's hard to get over the plastic at that pricepoint.

The ergos on the Manix are second to none, and it has good textured G-10 that's less slippery than the G-10 on your 710.

If the Ritter had a more ergonomic G-10 handle, I'd be all over it -- I really like the shape of the blade. I'd pay up to $150 for a G-10 Ritter.

I've got a Manix and a regular Ritter Grip. I tend to EDC the Manix more because of its ergos and substantial presence. The somewhat greater weight is not that much of an issue because I usually wear heavier canvas type pants with a dedicated tool pocket and a good belt. This helps lessen the perceived weight quite a bit (and allow for more junk...er, I mean necessary gear :D to be carried as well) If I'm wearing light pants like khakis or ones without a dedicated tool/knife pocket on the leg, I'll EDC the Ritter or something else of slightly reduced stature.

EDC for me means a front pocket in my casual slacks for sitting in an office. So... it has to be the mini-Ritter. I've had one for a while and I always have either that or one of my Delicas. The shape of the Delica is a more comfortable pocket carry but the handle of the mini-Grip is a better fit for my hand doing serious ctting.

I've never had any problem with an FRN or Zytel-type handle, although they certainly don't have the solid and "sticky" feel of G-10. I'd love to see a G-10 upgrade to the Ritter series.

I'd go with the Manix, though, over a full-sized Grip if I were using that size for my EDC. In fact, that's going to be my next purchase for my hiking / camping activities.

Thanks for everyone's input! The plastic handle on the Ritter Grip is the main issue holding me back. If it was a nice G-10 handle, the debate would be over in my mind. I did handle a Manix once and I was VERY impressed. It felt great in the hand. The only thing holding me back from that is the size, and I'd miss the AXIS lock.

I love the blade design on the Ritter, I hope they will put a nicer handle on it someday.

couldn't have said it better myself. get that MANIX. it's an indestructible workhorse that feels like a (sharp) extension of your hand. the ritters are not even in the same universe as the manix.

I've been EDCing the RSK-1 for about a week now, and I have to say after awhile the handles don't really bother you. I've never been a fan of handles made out of anything other than G-10, but I think that the excellent blade of the RSK-1 and the streght of the Axis Lock is more than a fair trade off for something that is probably purely asthetic anyway.

there's no reason to believe that the axis lock is stronger than the spydie lockback.

I'm a big guy with hands that easily palm a basketball so for me the Mini is just too small. I do like the blade steel though. The Manix is a better fit in my hand for sure.

I had a Mini Ritter in my shop recently for a repair (I think it is the same one you are referring to) and didn't like the little protrusion at the tang of the blade. It is right where I would want to put my index finger when holding it to use it and with that point there it is just too awkward to hold. It made the knife a finger knife essentially in my hand instead of a hand knife if that makes sense.

The guy that sent this to me to fix thought the same thing and tried to remove the point on this knife where he drew the red line. He took it off but went too far and exposed the springs so he asked me to build him another knife body for the S30V blade. He elected this over sending it back to BM where I'm sure it would have cost him dearly since it wasn't a warranty covered deal. Even after he took part of this point off it still stuck out enough to be in the way for my hands so I vote Manix just because of this.

FWIW here is the after pic. I used the thickest 6AL-4V titanium I could find to make the lock on this one (.063 thickness) making it the equal to just about any frame lock out there but it still is not as strong as the original lock I don't think. Still a tank of knife though but without that pesky point anymore, but a nice flat spot for the index finger to sit on while holding the knife. Even this was too small for my EDC knife though. So if you are my size go with the Manix.

I just placed an order for a the regular sized Ritter grip! I've had my eye on it for to long. :) I will probably get the Manix down the road and maybe a mini-ritter someday. :)
