Ritter Grip, thin handle

I have a Small Ritter Grip and I live the M390 steel, but wanted a better grip so I got an AWT scale. The AWT has a much better feel to it, but is pretty thick. The KW is thick as well. I decided to make my own with G10, in 1/8" thick stock, yes pretty thin. This project was very difficult, since my mill is manual only(no CNC).
Well I pulled it off and it's pretty decent, far from perfect but it works. It is around 3/8" thick, thinner than factory and the aftermarket products.

Thin:

I like it. If I had to complain about the Ritter's it would be the thickness. I personally don't mind the factory handles, feeling wise at least. But I don't like is how thick they are. Kind of leaves a little bubble in your pocket.

You scales seemed to have fixed that, and they look really well done. Good job. Maybe gull wing will be the next name people think of to get a set of aftermarket scales, haha.

The only reason I don't own AWT scales for my Grip is because they only make them in metal. You may have just solved my problem if you ever go into production.

I like the way the AWT scales warm up. Yes they are a little thick, IMO, but are a very nice way to change the look and feel if you don't like the plastic scales standard on the Grips. Nice work on those scales!

The flat-sided scales I have made are about or equally as thin as those you have made. Mine have run from 0.405 (13/32") to 0.440 (7/16") inches. Basically 1/32" thicker overall than yours. Almost unnoticeable in comparison. I do like the convenience of the thinner scales in the pocket.

You can recess the pivot pin, scale screws and partially recess the pivot screw if you are careful in doing so. Nice job on getting them made and the knife back in order. It is no easy task especially if its your first set.

Nice, I have a set for a large grip made by Igor and they are thin too. Feel great and carries well.

Thanks! I was mostly offering examples of thin scales and friendly advice on countersinking screws.

Thank you. I did recess the pivot heads, but only slightly, afraid of going too thin.

Looks good Gull wing!
That thinness is even harder to pull off using peelply.
You must be pleased?!
Nice slim carry you've got there.
You might want to buff the black off your screws & pivot.
You know go with a satin finish.
With them protruding just slightly, the paint will be wearing off quite quickly.

JFYI

.125" Material thickness
-.045" Liner cavity
-.050" Omega cavity
.035"
Now subtract your counter bore depth and how much material is left?

The standard BM counter bore is .050" deep.
That's what it takes to get the screws sitting flush with the scales.

So, I normally use slabs that are about .150"-ish thick.

Here is a pic of my experimental "thin one" done back in 2012.
