Ritter Mini Grip vs, standard Mini Grip

A little background: Long time Kershaw fan with a small collection. I've broken the ice with Spyderco with a Tenacious. I love it and see a Para 2 in my future. I think it's time that I bought my first Benchmade and have decided that it will be some variation of Mini Grip.

Here's my dilemma: I love the blade shape and stone-washed finish of the Ritter, but am having trouble justifying the extra cost since I can get a new standard Mini Grip for <$70. Is the Ritter worth the extra cost? Is S30V that much better than 154CM?

Another consideration is Knifeworks is out of stock on the Ritter. How often do they get new product?

For the extra money, I'd do the Cabelas D2 Mini-Grip. A very nice blade, with a good quality coating.

I own both and by far I would buy another Ritter. The S30V is hands down better, more wear resistance, killer stonewashed finish, and a higher / flatter grind. I have Wilkins on my mini Ritter and it feels much more stout than the standard grips. The Ritter Grip to me is one of the best values in edc folders.

I had the same dilemma, I wound up getting the standard mini-Griptilian, but I really liked the Ritter mini-Grip and ended up getting it also. I am very satisfied with the Ritter Griptilian and now have both the full size and the mini.

Knifeworks would be the best to answer on when they will have more in stock.

Spoke to Roger this afternoon and he expects to receive a shipment of Mini-RSK Mk1s in about a week. Patience, Grasshopper. ;)

Thanks for your interest.

both the mini and full size ritter are great knives .. some people dislike the handles but they can be changed fairly easily and there are many different options from Cuscadi , Wilkinsgrips and Phillip Dobson

for a mini ritter i recommend wilkinsgrips since it make the handle a little bigger and is perfect for the mini

for the full size (what i am doing ) I would go with Cuscadi.. they have many more options in materials and they are closer to original handle size and thinner.

both options cost a fair amount of money but most people would agree (that have done this) that it makes the knife 10x better

theres almost no difference between the s30v ritter and d2 except personal preference and price s30v is newer and was made specifically for knives and is MY personal fav steel for a pocket folder

I consider the Ritter s30v 's shape to be almost perfect for an EDC between my mini ritter and my full size i really dont need any other knives at all
s30v can be a little harder to sharpen but holds an edge longer
D2 is easier to sharpen but loses its edge faster

I've had both and they are fine knives. The standard and the Ritter will do just about anything you could ask of a medium-sized pocket knife and I had no complaints about either one. However, I found the regular model did everything the Ritter could do at 2/3 of the cost, so I sold the Ritter and haven't missed it once.

You can't go wrong with either one, but whether the Ritter is worth the extra cost is something only you can decide for yourself.

I noticed that they are taking preorders today. The wife doesn't have to know, right? ;)
