I just received this one a few days ago, Doug Ritter (Critter around here I think) and CRK&T teamed up with some other good folks to design a small survival tin/PSK knife.

You can read all the particulars here. Ritter MK5

It's a little cutter that's for sure, out of the box it's shaving sharp.

A few in hand shots. The lanyard cord really helps hang on to it, but they did a great job of curving the handle so that you can hold it and ridges on both sides keep it in place.

They recommend setting the lanyard knot, so that it's just past the edge of your hand, which works, but after playing around with it, I found another way that I like, set the knot a little further, so that you can slide your pinky inside the lanyard.

I used it to make an impromptu frog gig/spear and it worked just fine.

This is not a knife that I would want to be "lost in the wilds with only...", but it does work and could also be lashed to a limb as a spear head and lots of small chores around camp.

A good addition to a small PSK for sure, or piggybacked onto the sheath of a much bigger blade, and this one is a handy addition to a kit!

That's a neat little bugger, and even cooler that it comes with the tin. I like the curves on it. Thanks for sharing!

How's the sheath? That's the one thing holding me back. Are those 2 things on the side screws so you can adjust the tightness of the sheath?

I have always liked tin blades, and this one is no different. I will have to give it a try sometime.

No, they are rivets that cannot be adjusted. The one that came with mine was actually a little looser than it should be, but CRK&T sent me a new one that came today and it is solid.

Does the knife come with the one above or the one pictured here: http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/crk/images/2380sheath.jpg

Seems like a good deal for a small knife you can throw in a PSK. Rather have the MK5 than a SAK if it came down to it. The tin they package it with was very smart too.

Both mine are like the one in my pictures. I think that picture you linked to may have been an early sheath design that was rejected later. They went through some different designs.

The one I linked too did look like a prototype sheath. This may be even better than an Izula for a rear pocket sheath. Hell, just throw my stuff in the tin it comes with and put it in my pocket. Though it probably wouldn't be the most comfortable thing lol.

Nope, I actually tried an Altoids tin kit in my pocket a few years ago for about 3 days and quit. Not comfortable, especially sitting in a car!!!!

Maybe a small waterproof padded case. Or just a padded case. Can waterproof the individual items anyway. That or go batman style and put everything in my pockets onto my belt.
