Here is a new one. Hope you like it.
ringknife.jpg

1084/15n20 200 layer damascus
1018 ring guard and pommel plate
stainless swivel bail
stabilized and dyed maple burl

The hollow/flat grind was a buggar. Its done on the 2" wheel.

looks flat very flat its not really my kinda style its too clean and smooth it looks great for what you were going for though

I don't comment often, but I see a lot of "cool factor" in this one.

I also see a high level of skill. It looks like it would be a real booger on the handle to guard fitting. I like the deep grind, and the ricasso shoulders are clean as a whistle.

The top of the handle follows the downward sloping angle of the spine, and the bottom of the handle appears to be in perfect alignment with the bottom of the ricasso.

Great looking wood and Damascus, and a cool, well planned out, well executed ring guard.

I can see that a lot of thought went into this one. I like it. Two thumbs up.

Very nice Bruce. Is this one of your MS knives for Blade? Please provide more details.

Man this is what it's all about isn't it?! When an idea like that bites you there's no ignoring it, you just have to make it. I'm sure glad you did. That's just awesome, hope you're bringing it to Blade!

I have always admired your work...and this is no exception...Beautiful! Awesome lines, gorgeous Damascus, very cool wood, kinda looks like an intergral, i really dig that knife! great work Mr. Bump!

Nicely done Bruce, it has everything I look for in a handmade piece. Uniqueness , great combination of material and exquisite craftmanship.

But hell us ol farts don't know s**t. Memories gone and sight sucks, so anything we can see looks good. :D

Bill

Wow! kind of like a spitzer point bullet, if it weren't for that ring it'd poke clean through and keep right on movin:)

Is that ironwood

Wow! Just saw this. That is some burst of creativity. I like it for amny reasons, but mainly because its lines work so welland also because I'll bet there is nothing like it. Congradulations - you've opened some new territory in a radical way- not an easy thing to do in this field.

Bob

Great looking design. All you need now is a little barrel on top - trigger guard is already there :D.

Great looking handle material. Is it wood??

Roger

Thanks guys!! Yes it is one of the Master judged knives. I wish you guys were on the judging commitee. Thanks for all the very kind words.

Im pretty proud of the grind. It is a tight hollow and a flat grind too. A first for me and very intense to make. It was on the 2" wheel without variable speed. Really exciting to get to the spine without popping over.

Roger, that does look like a trigger guard doesnt it? Maybe a barrel on the next one. Yea!

Bill, Us ol farts should start a "over the hill knifemakers guild" You have to be at least 50 to get in. We could have an obituary as part of our news letter.

Dave, Come and play with it at Blade next month

Bruce I'll be there. And since Blade is my 50th birthday present, I may put in for the old fart's guild. :D

Dave

I'm not a knifemaker but I sure can appreciate that bit of craftsmanship! Very nice design & very unique! I'd say your mind was in overdrive developing that beauty! Is there a sheath for this creation? Congratulations on a fine piece of work!

Bruce,This piece is even better in pictures than you described over the phone. Now if it gets any better when I see it in person at Blade,Man you will have one knock down dead Georgeous Piece. It looks like you should have no problem with the MS Judging at all.
