I hate to bother everybody but since the search function is, temporarily I hope, not available I don't know how else to get the information I need.
Has anyone ordered a custom Kydex sheath from Mike Sastre at River City Sheaths? I was wondering how long it takes to get the merchandise after the order? I ran into mention of his firm in one of the knife publications and checked his site on the internet-looked interesting so I sent an E-mail for particulars and costs. I got an answer right back that seemed fair so I sent off my Greco Two Finger Knife to have a neck sheath made, along with a check for payment and return shipping. It's been a couple of months since I sent it off and I haven't heard anything back. I did send one E-mail asking for status but never got an answer back. Has anyone else had experience with River City Sheaths, and am I worrying needlessly?

Ecki...

Not sure what happened to your order, and although I don't speak for Mike, I will say that Mike is a standup guy, and will take care of you properly...

If he is as busy as I'am right now, he may be up to his eyebrows in work and have a back log to contend with.

I would just keep dropping him a note, and remind him that I'm a half a step behind him, At All Times..:)

That'll get his A$$ in gear..:)

Hang in there..He'll take care of you..

For comparison, I recently sent a SOG X-42 Field Knife to Survival Sheath Systems to have a concealex sheath made. I got the knife back after about two weeks. Cost was around $50.00 and the sheath was first-rate. (There is a picture in the SOG forum).

In any one man shop, you can run into unforseen problems, sickness, deaths in the family, divorces, etc.

I have known Mike Sastre for at least 4 years. He is a good guy that will take care of you. He may just be very busy and back logged or, may have had an internet email mishap of some sort.

I certainly wouldn't worry. I know he will take good care of you, your knife and, provide a sheath that is a work of sheath making art.

Most of the sheath makers you'll see on this site and others are great guys running great sheath companies. Something must be temporarily awry with Mike - I'll see what he does with an email I happened to have sent earlier today.

An email might get lost in the shuffle sometimes, so try sending a message or two more.

I too know Mike. He is a stand up guy. His sheaths are first rate but this turn around time is incredibly slow. He has done production and custom work for me. His production turn around was very fast, 4 dozen sheaths in 2 weeks. His custom work was slow, 2 sheaths in 6 months. He used to do all REKAT's sheath work before they folded. Just be patient.

Thanks a lot for the info gentlemen. It's nice to know that I didn't make a major mistake. I'll just kick back and relax-and wear my REKAT Hobbit Fang-until I get my Greco back. Thanks again for the help.:)

A new note-received my sheath from Mike a couple of days ago and it's a beauty. I'd heartily recommend him for custom sheath work.:D

Mike made me a sheath a couple of years and the delivery was a month or so...his work is outstanding! You will get your sheath!

Mike is a great guy, i first met him at the blade show in Atlanta and had him make a custom carbon fiber neck sheath drilled for a mini tek-lock for my T.O.P.S. Cheetah. All I can say it took 4 months to get it back but WOW!!!!!!! It looks great perfect fit and finish. Mike is just busy i can assure you you don't have to worry about your knife or money, it's safe with mike.. if you read this post Mike how's the CARD SHARPS???
