Hello Everyone. I haven't posted anything here in a very long time. I finally finished something other than just a basic hunter or skinner. This one has a lot of pattern welding in it. I called the pattern River Eddy. I was hoping to get something like that when I started. It is a 4-bar-mosaic pattern weld, and each of the bars are twisted. I have a ton of process pics on photobucket that you can see here:

The pattern is what you get when you weld 4 twisted bars into a 4-way mosaic with 15N20 as a cross between the bars, weld, flip to diamond, squash, draw, and ladder. It is 2 steps removed from a Turkish Ribbon. (I would need to be cut radially, rewelded, then accordion-cut to be the ribbon).

I hope you like. Thanks for looking.

That sounds a lot like a math. :grumpy: Really nice blade though despite the math, and the name of "river eddy" certainly is appropriate for the pattern! There are parts of it that make me want to take a cast for a trout! :D

Thanks Mecha. I have a puukko blank and another blade like this with the same pattern, I will be making them at some point. Especially the puukko, it is 80CrV2 and O1. I am going to try etching it to get relief and then bluing it to get contrast.

take care,
kc
